Alexander Volkanovski has undeniably proven himself as a legend of mixed martial arts, with ‘The Great’ starting his tremendous run to the pinnacle of the sport at UFC 232.

Alexander Volkanovksi destroyed Chad Mendes at UFC 232

American fans love a good old-fashioned war, with both fighters inside the cage giving it their all to secure the victory.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that they were up on their feet, watching Alexander Volkanovski and Chad Mendes trade bombs inside The Forum in Inglewood, California.

In a bid to impress his beloved supporters, Mendes came out swinging, trying to take out his relatively unknown opponent.

Showcasing his potential, Volkanovski survived the early blitz and even landed some snappy shots of his own.

However, it wasn’t long until the American landed one of his trademark blows, sending the Aussie spiraling towards the canvas.

Refusing to give in, Volkanovksi battled back, rising to his feet and rocking his opponent in return, who then switched things up and started using his wrestling ability to drag the future champion to the ground.

But while Mendes could get the fight to the floor, he certainly couldn’t keep it there, with the Wollongong-born brawler getting up and connecting with a left hand to the body, followed by a right hand upstairs to secure an explosive stoppage.

The major victory not only announced the talented sportsman to the world, but also set the wheels in motion for his rise to the very top of the featherweight division.

Alexander Volkanovski reveals his ‘GOAT’ list

Having established his place as one of the greatest 145-pounders to have ever graced the octagon, Volkanovski clearly knows a thing or two about mixed martial arts.

In fact, his sublime fighting IQ was a major factor in the gifted athlete becoming so successful in the sport.

With that in mind, he’s taken a look at all the warriors of past and present, and given his top five UFC competitors of all time.
