Joe Rogan reveals rumoured purse Jon Jones wants for Tom Aspinall fight: ‘I hope they pay it’

UFC commentator Joe Rogan has indicated what purse heavyweight champion Jon Jones is looking for to face interim titleholder, Tom Aspinall.

Jon Jones defended his heavyweight title for the first time in November of 2024 when he earned a TKO victory over UFC veteran Stipe Miocic.

The third-round finish over Miocic was Jones’ second win in the heavyweight division since claiming the title in early 2023. However, Jones is not considered the undisputed champion.

Due to an injury suffered by Jones in 2023, Tom Aspinall was allowed to fight for an interim heavyweight title versus Sergei Pavlovich, a bout he won via first-round knockout.

With Aspinall a clear contender to be Jones’ next challenge, UFC president Dana White has confirmed the two will be the next matchup for the heavyweight title.

Jon Jones wants $30million?

Speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience (2:31), the titular host and UFC commentator has said what he believes to be Jones’ desired purse for the potential heavyweight showdown versus Aspinall.

“The rumor is that he wants $30 million”, Rogan told his guests before adding, “I hope they [UFC] pay it.”

Ahead of UFC 309, a significant talking point of the week was about Jones fighting Stipe Miocic as opposed to interim champion Tom Aspinall.

Speaking in the post-fight press conference of UFC 310 Jones responded to a question regarding the interim champion by saying, “Tom Aspinall is an a**hole and I don’t want to do business with him.” Jones also stated that he would only fight the Englishman if he is paid ‘F*** you money’.

However, UFC president Dana White spoke about the potential matchup following the company’s last event of the year on December 14th. When asked if could he guarantee the division would be unified in 2025, White provided a “100%” promise that the pair would meet.

White also described the bout as “the biggest fight in heavyweight history”.

Tom Aspinall talks Jon Jones and his flaws after UFC 309

Speaking after the event in November 2024, UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall said he sees “openings” in Jon Jones’ game.

Interviewed in Madison Square Garden following the event, Aspinall gave credit to Jones saying he was one of the greatest fighters of all time. However, he also mentioned that he “definitely sees openings”, before adding “whether I can do it, or not… I don’t know.”

Aspinall last fought in an interim title defense versus Curtis Blaydes. In a rematch between the two, the Englishamn was able to bounce back from an injury-induced TKO loss against Blaydes in their first meeting, earning his own first-round knockout.
