This past December at UFC 310, Themba Gorimbo suffered his first loss in five fights after he was choked unconscious by former ranked contender, Vicente Luque.
After four impressive wins on the bounce, Themba Gorimbo was edging ever closer to the welterweight rankings and a win over Vicente Luque would’ve finally put a number next to his name.
Despite that, ‘The Answer’ was unfortunately handed his fifth loss of his professional career when the Brazilian choked him unconscious in the very first round.

Themba Gorimbo reveals his own family celebrated his UFC 310 loss
Since joining the UFC in 2023, Gorimbo has become a favorite amongst the fans who have learned his extremely emotional backstory.
Gorimbo used to be a blood diamond smuggler in his home country of Zimbabwe, but he fled to South Africa. He was then deported from South Africa where he began to learn Martial Arts and made the journey over to the United States.
Gorimbo used to train at MMA Masters in Florida with the likes of Colby Covington who has subsequently fallen out with, and he used to sleep on a mattress in the gym as he had nowhere else to stay.
His story was then learned by The Rock, who brought him a house and changed his life. Although there are many people on the 33-year-old’s side, he seemingly has people who are praying on his downfall.
“When I go online like one of my cousins, I can’t speak his name but like he messaged me the day after I lost this last fight some of my cousins were celebrating my loss, they were all celebrating my loss,” Gorimbo explained on the Pivot Podcast.
“He sent me a video of them in a place where we were 15 years ago, this small circle in Danone where it’s a slum… And these cousins of mine were celebrating my loss and do you know how much that eats you? All I try to do is do better for everybody,” Gorimbo continued.
“People think that because I’m in the UFC I’m a millionaire, I’m not, maybe one day I will be but the reality is I’m not.”
Dricus Du Plessis chimes in on Gorimbo’s comments
Following Gorimbo’s upsetting revelation, UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis alarmingly commented on the situation.
“Yeah because anyone that knows you would (celebrate your loss),” Du Plessis commented.
Prior to this situation, there was no indication that Gorimbo and ‘Stillknocks’ had beef, however, ‘Stillknocks’ clearly isn’t a fan of the Zimbabwean for some reason.
The two have previously trained together when Gorimbo lived in South Africa and it is unclear whether the two had a falling out following Gorimbo’s move to the United States.
