Just like many others UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones reflected on his 2024 with a post on social media.
At the beginning of 2024, fans were skeptical of whether we would even see Jon Jones inside the UFC Octagon again considering his injury troubles throughout 2023.
Despite that, ‘Bones’ returned at UFC 309 successfully defending his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic.

Chael Sonnen roasts Jon Jones for his end of 2024 social media post
Although it has been a relatively successful year for the consensus greatest of all time, he has only fought once and it was a fight that garnered extremely little interest.
Fans were far more interested in seeing a title unification bout between Jones and interim champ, Tom Aspinall, and because of Jones’ feelings towards that potential fight, he was labeled a ‘duck’ for the majority of 2024.
Despite that, the heavyweight champion has reflected on his year with a post on X (formerly Twitter), and it has been picked up on by former UFC star, Chael Sonnen.
Sonnen went on to review Jones’ list talking about each different point and giving his opinion on them.
“Is hiking in Albuquerque’s Sandia Mountain, is that a feat? I’ll have to take it at its word. Doesn’t sound all that impressive,” Sonnen said about one of Jones’ points.
After eight minutes of reading out Jones’ reflection, Sonnen hilariously cut by saying: “What, eight minutes is up? But I’m not done with the year in review. That’s it?”
Will Jon Jones fight Tom Aspinall next?
Heading into 2025, fans are extremely hopeful that we will finally get Jones vs Aspinall, especially considering UFC CEO, Dana White’s recent comments.
When asked if he’s confident that fight will happen next, White claimed he is ‘100%’ confident, sparking excitement amongst the fans.
Despite that, ‘Bones’ has made it clear he requires ‘f*** you money’ to fight Aspinall and the promotion historically hasn’t pulled out all of the stops to provide that.
A big grey area over Jones’ career already is the fact that he didn’t fight former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou.
2025 could be the year where we see the consensus greatest of all time fight his last fight in the sport, or we may not even get that far.
