Chael Sonnen was embarrassed to lose to Tito Ortiz

On January 21, 2017, at Bellator 170, Chael Sonnen and Tito Ortiz finally went head-to-head inside the cage.

The pair had created enormous hype through their entertaining press conferences, full to the brim with brutal trash talk.

Regardless, Ortiz walked away with the bragging rights, leaving his rival feeling ashamed of what had happened.

His mood was dampened even further when he bumped into his nemesis in the aftermath of the contest.

In an interview with Flagrant, The Oregon wrestler claimed: “He really is a very bad fighter. So, to lose to Tito is very embarrassing. You don’t want to be the guy that lost to Tito.

“But I congratulate him, I was cordial, I saw him in the back, our locker rooms were right by each other. He said, ‘If you want me to accept that apology, you will do it publically at the press conference’.

“I was just standing there like, ‘Tito, I am humiliated right now, I’m not getting a bonus cheque, I have to walk out there, and you suck’.”

While renowned for his bravado, the American has confessed that there was one rival that scared him to his core.

The 47-year-old has even gone as far as admitting that he didn’t believe that he was going to win the fight.
