Dan Hardy thinks there could be a controversial result in Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2
Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 is almost upon us, with the combat sports community joined in unison in excitement to find out who will come out on top.
The first match-up delivered a barnburner between two master technicians, with the Ukrainian eventually solving a puzzle that nobody else had managed to complete in the professional ranks.
This time around, many are wondering whether ‘The Gypsy King’ can switch his tactics and claim his revenge.
Dan Hardy is leaning towards the reigning champion, but believes there’s a path to victory for his countryman, even going as far as to suggest there could be a controversial ending to the bout.
WOW: The incredible amount of money Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury are making for their rematch
In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, the Englishman said: “I’m really fascinated to see it, honestly. I can see it going either way. If Fury is able to make the ring small in the first few rounds and force Usyk to really use his footwork to get away or to use his inside fighting and his wrestling against someone who’s so much bigger and taller, I do feel like Fury can wear him down, dirty box him, but that all depends on whether the referee keeps getting involved, if they keep separating them, then Fury’s not going to be able to invest that fatigue into Usyk.
“Ultimately, I always seem to have a slight bias towards the technician, so I would go with Usyk because of his speed with the diversity of his movement and footwork.
“But the sheer size of Fury, coupled with his fight IQ, makes it a very challenging fight to call. I’m leaning towards Usyk, but I could see it being a controversial decision, and we’re going to be running it back again.”
Boxing legend claims he would’ve knocked out Oleksandr Usyk
While Usyk has undeniably proven himself as one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of gloves, a fellow boxing legend believes he could’ve beaten him.
This particular icon of the sport is actually very complimentary about ‘The Cat’, claiming he’d have excelled in his era.
However, the former world champion remains confident that he’s spotted a hole in Usyk’s game that he would’ve exploited.
