In the past, Tyson Fury has run into heavy criticism regarding his fight preparation, especially for his fight last year against Francis Ngannou.
When it was surprisingly announced last year that Tyson Fury would take on Francis Ngannou in the former UFC heavyweight champions boxing debut, it’s fair to say, he underestimated ‘The Predator’.
Following his extremely close split decision victory, ‘The Gypsy King’ claimed that he only spent five weeks training for that fight, in which he came in at his career heaviest at 277.7 lbs.

Tyson Fury explains why he will come in heavy against Oleksandr Usyk
After narrowly scraping past Ngannou, Fury then went on to clash with Oleksandr Usyk this past May in what was one of the biggest heavyweight boxing fights in history.
For that fight, Fury cut 15.7lbs weighing 262lbs, which was the lightest he has weighed since his 2019 fight against Otto Wallin.
After being handed his first pro loss by the Ukrainian, the Brit has decided to make a big change by weighing the heaviest he has ever been inside the ring and he has explained the method behind his madness.
“I want him to be the best he’s ever been. Yeah, hopefully, I get the best version of him. If there was anything wrong with him last time, I hope he’s one million percent better and I get the best version of him on Saturday,” Fury told Sky Sports Boxing.
“I’m about 20 stone (280lbs) at the moment, just over,” Fury revealed.
“(The benefit is) more power in the punches. I think so (that my best performances have come when I’m heavier), yeah. When a 20-stone man hits you on the jaw compared to a man that’s 17-stone, it’s a bit different, for sure.
“I’m gonna beat him that badly on Saturday he ain’t gonna wanna rematch but listen, people do a lot of stuff for a right few quid (money) don’t they so crazier things have happened,” he continued.
Tyson Fury makes big change to his corner team just days out from fight
At this point in fight week of their last fight, blood had already been spilled but not by either fighter. Tyson’s father, John Fury had headbutted a member of Usyk’s team, opening up a cut on his own forehead.
Fury Sr has always received heavy criticism for his involvement in ‘The Gypsy King’s’ pre-fight antics and he has begun to do the same during Tommy Fury’s career.
‘TNT’ Fury was scheduled to fight former UFC star, Darren Till this coming January but after John Fury launched a bottle of water at Till during their pre-fight press conference, tempers began to flare.
Tommy later withdrew from the fight claiming that he was worried that Till would fire a kick at him during their boxing match if things weren’t going his way.
Throughout this week, John hasn’t been spotted in Riyadh which led to question marks regarding his involvement in Tyson’s corner, considering he was part of the fight night corner team last time out.
With that, SugarHill Steward stated that John Fury won’t be part of the corner team in Saturday night’s rematch with the decision made by ‘The Gypsy King’.
