Chael Sonnen tells Colby Covington that he does not ‘accept’ the result
On Saturday night, at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, USA, Joaquin Buckley picked up the biggest victory of his career, slicing Colby Covington up with vicious strikes.
In the early portion of the fight, ‘New Mansa’ looked tremendous, but as time rolled by, the UFC’s most polarizing star worked his way back into the contest.
But while Covington was playing his part in a barnburner, with blood streaming down his face, the doctor deemed it necessary to call a halt to the action.
In the locker room afterward, Chael Sonnen went above and beyond to keep the 36-year-old’s spirits up.

Sonnen agreed: “Not bad at all. Your kicks were on point tonight. He hit you with—those were hard shots, and it’s hard for anybody to see because you just took them.
“Even us in the corner were like, ‘I guess that didn’t hurt; he’s still going forward’. You got your head stuck in the middle, but you were working your way out; you had your hands locked’.
“It was great. Everything was going great. The tide was turning. That does not count, I do not accept that—not at all man. That was a great fight, and you fought really hard.”
