At UFC 310 this past Saturday, former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling suffered his first loss since moving to featherweight, which has him considering his future.
Aljamain Sterling made his featherweight debut this past April at UFC 300, beating Calvin Kattar and immediately putting himself into title contention.
He was then matched up with Movsar Evloev at UFC 307, however, ‘Funkmaster’ withdrew from the bout after suffering an injury to his shoulder and the bout was rescheduled for UFC 310.

Aljamain Sterling admits he’s considering retirement following UFC 310 loss
Despite putting on a solid performance, Sterling was handed his second loss in three fights with Evloev maintaining his undefeated record by picking up another decision win.
After the fight, Sterling and Evloev embraced backstage and discussed their fight. Not long after, the former bantamweight champion took to his YouTube channel to discuss his fight in more depth.
Just moments before he walked out for his fight, Sterling was sick backstage and was hoping that the commission didn’t see him.
“I drank a PRIME, I don’t know what happened, it turned my stomach and I thought I was good, and then I felt like I had to yack in the back,” Sterling began to explain in his YouTube video.
“When they called us to go down in the back tunnel, I’m like ‘Hold on bro’, as they started doing the intro I’m like, ‘Is there a bucket because I need to puke all over this floor’,” Sterling continued.
This isn’t the first time Sterling has been sick on fight night, as the 35-year-old threw up in between rounds during an amateur fight back in 2010.
After spending several years at the top of the sport, Sterling is now considering his future and even told his team following UFC 310 that he may retire from the sport.
“When we were in the back room, Ray (Longo) had just stepped out and I told the guys ‘I’m gonna let you guys know, I don’t really know what I’m gonna do from here, I don’t know if I’m gonna (continue)’.
“At 35, I don’t know if I wanna climb the ladder all over again… The end goal is so much further away… Is that worth the time invested, the surgeries, the pain… I don’t want to retire but I’ve got to see what the UFC offers and then kind of make a decision from there,” Sterling added.
Sterling’s teammate reveals what started a fight with a fan at UFC 310
Unfortunately for Sterling, one of the main talking points from his fight, was that his two teammates, Merab Dvalishvili and Dennis Buzukja got into a fight with a fan whilst they were walking backstage following Sterling’s fight.
The fan in question seemingly began to taunt Dvalishvili, and it has since come out that the fan was an acquaintance of Umar Nurmagomedov and his team.
Despite that, Buzukja ended up trading punches with the fan and he has disclosed what caused the fight in the first place.
“I don’t know if he had touched Merab as we were walking in, but somehow he got Merab’s attention, and then Merab went and tapped his shoulder and gave him the finger, and then this guy gave him the finger back or whatever.
“He got all jumpy. Then as the fight finished and we were walking back on the other side, this f*cking guy came across the whole crowd and then goes and, you’ve seen the video, he grabs Merab’s arm and says something to him.
“Then we got into a little physical altercation. So hopefully no charges pressed and we move on,” Buzukja revealed.
