Clay Guida has released a defiant first message after Dana White called for him to hang up his gloves on Saturday night.
The legendary former Strikeforce champion made his UFC debut over 18 years ago, and is still active in the octagon at the age of 43. However, he now has three losses in a row, and appears to be heading towards his final days in the sport.
He faced Chase Hooper at UFC 310 on Saturday, and looked to be off the pace in terms of not just wrestling and grappling, but also striking which is not his rival’s strong point. He ended up being submitted in the first, repeating the result of their grappling match two years prior.

Dana White called for Clay Guida and other legends to retire after UFC 310
There were three aging UFC legends who took high-profile defeats on Saturday night, all by way of stoppage. Chris Weidman was brutally finished by Eryk Anders, while Anthony Smith also seemed to drop his hands and allow Dominick Reyes to hit him on route to a KO loss.
“They all retire tonight. They should all retire tonight,” White suggested at the UFC 310 post fight press conference, before gettin heated with a member of the media. The reporter asked him what he thought about Kron Gracie’s performance against Bryce Mitchell on the main card.

This made White believe that the reporter was simply looking to have him ‘S*** on all the fighters’, given how poor Gracie’s showing was. “So, you’re like, ‘What do you think about Weidman and this guy and that guy?’, I said they should retire,” White claimed.
“You ask ‘What do you think about Kron tonight?’, I don’t like the way you’re leading me down this road, I know what you’re doing, you know the answer to the question but you just want me to say it or something.
“You’re saying ‘Kron looked limited, what do you think?’, do you have anything positive or do you want me to s*** on everybody on the card tonight?”
Clay Guida declares ‘we will be back’ after third straight UFC loss
Despite White’s protestations, it appears that Guida will attempt to mount something of a comeback even after his third straight defeat. It remains to be seen if that will be under the UFC banner or not, but he took to Instagram to share his thoughts after the loss.
“The kids got some skills!” Guida told his followers on social media after taking a few days off. “Congratulations to you and your camp @choop556. What a performance!!! You have a bright future young man!!!
“Thanks to everyone in the GUIDA MAFIA that came to Vegas to support us and the rest of the athletes!!! We truly have the best fans in the World!!! Huge thanks to my Coaches for preparing me, and to my Family and Friends for always being there! and believing in us!!! We will be back!!!”
