Jon Jones trolls former rivals with four-word tweet while watching UFC 310

UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones took advantage of watching two of his former rivals scrap at UFC 310.

Jon Jones, who is fresh off a dominant win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, is enjoying some downtime amidst ongoing UFC contract discussions. After defeating Miocic, he’s likely set for a clash with Tom Aspinall next year, despite his past indifference.

In the meantime, Jones joined millions around the world to watch UFC 310, the UFC’s final pay-per-view card. The UFC 310 featured prelim bout was a clash between two former UFC light heavyweight title challengers; Dominick Reyes and Anthony Smith

Reyes put on a dominant performance against Smith, eventually finishing Smith in the second round by TKO. He lost to Jones by a controversial unanimous decision at UFC 247.

After watching Reyes vs. Smith, Jones didn’t take long to weigh in on social media.

Jon Jones mocks ‘son’ Dominick Reyes after UFC 310 win

“Watching my sons fight,” Jones posted with a screenshot of Reyes vs. Smith.

As of this writing, Reyes nor Smith have responded to Jones’ tweet. Jones’ tweet comes just hours after Reyes fired some shots at the former UFC light heavyweight champ over their controversial clash in the Octagon.

Reyes is on a roll with back-to-back wins following a four-fight losing streak in the Octagon. His loss to Jones at UFC 247 was the first of his career, and he went on to suffer knockout defeats to Ryan Spann, Jan Blachowicz, and Jiří Procházka.

Reyes built off his first-round knockout win against Dustin Jacoby earlier this year. He’s also earned wins against the likes of Chris Weidman, Volkan Oezdemir, and Ovince Saint Preux during his career.

Jon Jones eyes 2025 return amidst ongoing UFC contract talks

Jones defeated Smith by unanimous decision at UFC 235, but the fight didn’t come without controversy. Jones was deducted two points in the fourth round after landing an illegal knee to Smith’s head.

Instead of opting for the win by disqualification, Smith opted to continue fighting, making it the full five-round distance. Since the Jones fight, Smith has had up-and-down runs in the UFC Octagon, suffering recent defeats to Johnny Walker and Roman Dolidze.

Jones earned the then-vacant UFC heavyweight title by submitting Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. After suffering a torn pectoral last year ahead of his scheduled UFC 295 booking, Jones’ title reign was indefinitely postponed, and Aspinall earned the interim belt.

Jones is in the thick of contract negotiations with the UFC, and he could potentially earn a massive payout for a clash with Aspinall. Despite his light heavyweight reign long behind him, Jones is still keeping an eye on some of his former 205lb adversaries.
