Tommy Fury has declared that he won’t be fighting Darren Till next month after an outlandish threat from the former UFC star.
The Love Island star and unbeaten professional boxer was due to make his return to the ring on January 18 in a Misfits Boxing main event against the former UFC title contender. But now, Fury has declared that the fight is off after being threatened by the Liverpool native at their launch press conference.
Till seemingly joked that he would be willing to throw a head kick in the case that he was losing the fight, and the pair had to be dragged apart during an uncomfortable brawl. And now Fury says that he is concerned that the threat was serious, and as such he won’t be fighting.

Tommy Fury pulls out of Darren Till fight
With just over a month to go until the pair are due to meet at the Co-Op Live in Manchester, Tommy Fury is now claiming that he won’t be fighting Darren Till next month. Tickets have already been sold for the massive venue, and Till is still in camp for the bout.
But his threat that he would utilize MMA tactics if he were to be losing on the night has seemingly frightened his rival, who has now pulled out of the fight. Taking to Instagram stories, Fury wrote: “I can’t believe I’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18th 2025.
“For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is loosing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.
“I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp.
“We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.”
Darren Till hits back at Tommy Fury as he pulls out of grudge fight
Darren Till has since taken to social media to declare his shock at the pullout, and ripped into Fury. He insists that the comment was tongue-in-cheek and used as mental warfare, not dissimilar to how Conor McGregor teased such a move against Floyd Mayweather.
His boxing debut ended in chaos back in July, and he was looking forward to a more serious outing this time around. “Tommy Fury u are the biggest s***house I have ever met in my life do not ever call yourself a fighter again,” he wrote in a lengthy post on X.
“I was selling the fight to make me and you more money you absolute empty head fighting family my a** you and ur dad s***houses. I don’t need to throw kicks you was getting knocked spark out you divvy we was making bank on this fight cos of me not you.
“I was building it you should be fighting and should be thanking me… over and out… no one wants to fight me… Jake Paul what are you upto you big fat dummy?”
Darren Till will still fight on January 18 as planned
It’s not all bad news for Misfits Boxing fans, however. Darren Till’s boxing manager Lee Eaton has confirmed that he will still be competing on the day, claiming that it has been confirmed by the promotion.

The veteran boxing manager and matchmaker also noted that Till had stated behind the scenes that he was willing to give up his entire purse if he actually did break the rules.
“Just to clarify Darren was asked to sell the fight and he did,” Eaton wrote on X. “DT even offered to forfeit his entire purse if he broke professional boxing rules – @misfitsboxing have confirmed @darrentill2 will still be fighting Jan 18th!!!”
