Jake Paul reacts as Tommy Fury pulls out of Darren Till fight over press conference jibe

Jake Paul seemed amused to hear that his great rival Tommy Fury has pulled out of his boxing return next month.

Fury was due to take on former UFC welterweight title contender Darren Till on a Misfits Boxing event in Manchester on January 18. But he has now announced that he won’t be fighting on that date due to concerns over a comment Till has been making in the build-up to the fight.

Till, better known for MMA than boxing, claimed that if he were to be losing the fight, he would just throw a head kick and knock out his rival. And while such a statement seems to be an obvious joke, Fury was clearly concerned enough to claim he is pulling out of the fight.

Tommy Fury claims he is not fighting Darren Till on January 18

In a controversial move, Tommy Fury has now declared that he will be looking for a new date and opponent amid concerns that Till would potentially kick him during their fight. The comment came after a viral clip of a fighter who was losing a boxing match and opted to knock out his rival with a head kick.

Taking to Instagram stories, Fury wrote: “I can’t believe I’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18th 2025.

“For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is loosing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics.

“I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp.

“We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.”

The news of the cancellation immediately went viral on social media as both Fury and Till posted about the fight being off. And one interested onlooker was Jake Paul, who famously lost to the Love Island star in February of last year.

Their fight was razor-close, with the result coming by split decision after Paul put his rival down late in the final round. Since then, the American claims that he made a massive money offer for a rematch on Netflix, before eventually opting to face Mike Tyson instead.

In a post on X this morning that was likely a reaction to the Fury fight news, Paul simply wrote: “Hahahaha”. It is worth noting that he also has a lengthy rivalry with Misfits Boxing boss KSI who was promoting the event.

Darren Till hits back at Tommy Fury and calls out Jake Paul after fight cancellation

Till has savaged Fury on social media since the fight’s cancellation, claiming that he simply won the mind games after using the family’s bullying tactics against them. He noted that Tommy’s brother Tyson Fury, as well as their dad John Fury, are some of the most famed trash talkers in combat sport.

The former UFC welterweight title contender also claimed that his team were aware of the cancellation since Sunday, but have been trying to contact John since then in order to save the day. The Fury patriarch manages Tommy’s career, and opted not to respond to their calls.

“I have only just found out that my team knew Tommy Fury was pulling out of the fight Sunday and didn’t want to tell me cos they were trying to get John Fury on the phone,” Till wrote in a post on X which was accompanied by a video.

“But he’s not answering calls apparently Tommy you was never ready for that date you crazy shithouse don’t ever show ur face again!!!
