Gervonta Davis believes Mike Tyson did irreversible damage to his legacy by fighting Jake Paul.
The WBA lightweight champion, who has often been branded ‘Mini Mike Tyson’ due to his diminutive stature and ferocious knockout power, was one of the 60 million people who tuned in to Netflix for the fight of the year.
‘Tank’ watched on as one of his idols returned to the ring 58 years old to take on a prospect more than three decades his junior at AT&T Stadium in Texas on November 15.
It’s safe to say Gervonta Davis is not happy with how things played out.

Gervonta Davis reacts to Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson
Davis has given his harsh verdict on Tyson’s lopsided decision defeat to Paul.
The 30-year-old was recently asked for his thoughts on the controversial matchup while promoting his fight with Lamont Roach, which will take place on March 1.
Davis said: “Why would he even wanna fight him, man?
“Who told Mike Tyson to fight anyway?
“Yeah, [it’s tarnished his legacy]. It definitely did. For some money.”
These latest comments represent a big U-turn from Davis on the fight.
In the immediate aftermath of Tyson’s first professional boxing outing since 2005, he took to social media to praise the former undisputed heavyweight champion while simultaneously slamming his opponent.
“To the bozo that shared the ring with Mike, you a whole bozo for this and you didn’t get the job done s***head,” Davis wrote about Paul.
He added about Tyson: “You will always be a boxing legend, whether you like it or not. There will never be another one and I understand you so well.
“All this s*** that is happening now means nothing.”
Will Mike Tyson ever fight again?
Mike Tyson called out Logan Paul immediately after losing to his little brother.
After taking some time to cool off, the aging fighter released a social media statement that reflected on the medical issues he suffered before his comeback bout.
Tyson also hinted that Jake Paul would be his final boxing opponent.
“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” he wrote on X. “I’m grateful for last night.
“No regrets to get in ring one last time. I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions.
“Lost half my blood and 25lb in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won. To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”
Davis will certainly be hoping Tyson avoids tarnishing his legacy further by retiring for good, but only time will tell if he can be convinced to lace up the gloves one more time.
