Darren Till shares words of wisdom from Nick Diaz after good friend suffers $1million PFL defeat

Darren Till was quick to offer some kind words to Brendan Loughnane after his latest loss.

The former featherweight titleholder fell short in his bid to win a second $1milion championship as he suffered a bloody beating at the hands of 18-0 Dagestani fighter Timur Khizriev in the main event of PFL’s penultimate show of the year in Saudi Arabia on Friday night.

Soon after Brendan Loughnane‘s unanimous decision defeat was confirmed, his friend and former training partner, Darren Till, took to social media to reveal he had tried to lift his spirits with a quote from MMA legend Nick Diaz.

Darren Till lifts Brendan Loughnane’s spirit after loss

Darren Till revealed that some nice words from Nick Diaz made him feel better after UFC 282.

The Englishman used them to cheer up Brendan Loughnane, who he praised for going on to have an epic career in the sport after being brutally rejected by UFC boss Dana White when he appeared on The Contender Series in 2019.

Till tweeted: “Nick Diaz said to me in the Wynn Vegas after my loss to Dricus… ‘’some days ur the hammer, other days ur the nail’’ I just said the same to @BrendanMMA

“He’s f***ing smashed his life and career upto this point & solidified his name as one of the great FW’s.

“So many fighters have been on the end of his beatings. Sometimes it’s time to take ur turn. Either way he’s a machine and I’ve got mad respect for the guy and fighter he is…

“He’ll be back The cream always rises to the top MH X.”

Tom Aspinall reacts to Tommy Fury vs Darren Till

Since being released by the UFC last year, Darren Till has been training for big boxing fights.

In July, his boxing debut ended in a farcical second-round TKO win and a post-fight brawl.

Now he’s been booked to fight the only man to beat Jake Paul, Tommy Fury, on January 18.

Tom Aspinall is better placed than most to predict the crossover bout after training with both men through the years.

The interim UFC heavyweight champion admits he’s got no clue how it will go, but he’ll be sitting in the front row when the fight goes down in Manchester, England, early next year.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, he said: “As far as predictions and stuff, it’s kind of difficult for me to say because I’ve known Tommy for a long, long time, but I’ve not actually trained with him since he was about 18. So, I’ve not sparred with him or anything like that for a long time.

“Also, Till, I used to spar him in MMA, and boxing is a different sport. It’s hard. From a personal point of view, I don’t really know how they match up in the sport of boxing. Till actually has really, really good hands.

“I think it’s a good fight either way. I’m gonna be there. I will be there. It’s at the Co-Op live [Arena] as well. I love the Co-Op Live, so I’ll be there supporting. It will be a fun event.”
