Paddy Pimblett says he obviously thinks he’d beat Islam Makhachev
Paddy Pimblett is slowly but surely working his way to the pinnacle of the UFC mountain.
Aside from a controversial decision against Jared Gordon, ‘The Baddy’ has demolished every opponent in the promotion who’s dared take him on. And it’s fair to say it’s boosted his confidence.
With Pimblett’s dream of being crowned UFC champion, edging closer to becoming a reality, the grappler has started to discuss a clash with Islam Makhachev.
While the Russian would be a huge favorite, the 29-year-old is convinced he has what it takes to pull off the upset.

In an interview on the StillTalkingShow, the fighter said: “People always say, ‘Do you think you’d beat Islam Makhachev’? I’m like, ‘Obviously’. Do you think I’m going to sit here and go, ‘No, he’d beat me’? Then, I’m not a fighter; I’m a coward.
“Somebody asked him about me the other week in Abu Dhabi, and he said, ‘If he keeps winning fights he might get a title shot’.
“I respect Islam, he’s a great champion. People will probably laugh at me for saying this, but obviously, I think I’d beat him, I don’t think any man on this planet would beat me if I got in the cage with them. I think I’d beat everyone.”
When asked if Makachev would stand a chance against him, the Scouser replied: “In my mind, no. I always say, if you think anyone in your division or any of your rivals can beat you, you’re in the wrong sport.”
