Jake Paul’s team release official statement addressing ‘fictitious claims’ about record-breaking Mike Tyson fight

Most Valuable Promotions have released an official statement responding to claims that Jake Paul’s recent record-breaking boxing fight against Mike Tyson was ‘rigged’.

On November 15, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson controversially took part in the biggest combat sports event in modern history with it being the first sporting event to stream live on Netflix.

The monumental event at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, broke every viewership record since Muhammad Ali, with the streaming giant announcing that it garnered 108 million live viewers globally.

Jake Paul’s team release an official statement addressing ‘fictitious claims’

‘The Problem Child’ went on to pick up the unanimous decision win after dominating the 58-year-old over the entire eight-round fight.

However, as with several of Paul’s previous professional boxing fights, a large portion of the sport’s fanbase has accused the 27-year-old and his team of ‘rigging’ his fight against ‘Iron Mike’.

Fans have been highlighting a specific sequence from the controversial fight, claiming that Tyson pulled his punch instead of landing it flush on the chin of the internet sensation-turned-boxer.

With that, Most Valuable Promotions have released an official statement in the form of a press release, responding to ‘fictitious claims’.

“Following the wide circulation of incorrect and baseless claims that undermine the integrity of the Paul vs Tyson event, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) would like to set the record straight regarding the contractual agreements and the nature of the fight,” the press release began.

“Both fighters in good faith performed to the best of their abilities with the goal of winning the fight. There were absolutely no restrictions – contractual or otherwise – around either fighter. Each boxer was able to use his full arsenal to win the fight.

“Trash talk and speculation are common in sports, and athletes and promoters need to tolerate nonsensical commentary, jokes, and opinions,” the press release continued.

Jake Paul’s manager comments on the claims that his fight against Mike Tyson was rigged

As mentioned before, this isn’t the first time ‘The Problem Child’ has faced accusations of fight-fixing, as fans claimed that Paul’s second fight against Tyron Woodley was pre-determined.

The 28-year-old’s manager, and co-founder of MVP, Nakisa Bidarian, said: “This is not the first time Jake Paul has faced unfounded skepticism or outright disbelief as a professional athlete, and frankly, the claim that this bout must have been rigged is just the latest backhanded compliment to come his way.

“Jake has not only proved himself repeatedly, but he has continuously set historic records that speak for themselves. This event, which broke attendance and viewership milestones for a professional sporting event, is yet another example of his ability to deliver on the biggest stage.

“As long as Jake continues to exceed expectations, there will always be those who try to discredit his achievements. We embrace the doubt – it only fuels Jake to work harder and achieve greater success,” Bidarian continued.
