Jake Paul advised to avoid Daniel Dubois ’embarrassment’ by retired fighter who hijacked Mike Tyson press conference

Jake Paul has been warned against fighting Daniel Dubois.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer recently leaked a direct message from Dubois, who offered him the chance to fight for the IBF heavyweight title he defended by knocking out Anthony Joshua in September.

Jake Paul has been inundated with callouts from world champion boxers since he outpointed 58-year-old ring legend Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Texas last Friday.

The 27-year-old appears to be down for facing a current heavyweight champion in his next fight, but former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew insists agreeing to face Dubois would be a grave mistake.

Tony Bellew predicts Daniel Dubois vs Jake Paul

Bellew hasn’t fought since being knocked out by Oleksandr Usyk in 2018, but he’s remained a key part of the boxing scene, which Paul has dramatically changed during the past few years.

‘The Bomber’ hasn’t shied away from criticizing Paul for his opponent choices, but he thinks the internet celebrity is going too far the other by considering a fight with Dubois.

“I know the boy’s got a great imagination, but I don’t know what planet he’s on,” Bellew told talkSPORT. “He’s got to be on Mars or somewhere like that to even think about something like that. It couldn’t be sanctioned anyway.

“We’ve seen an old Mike Tyson on Friday night and I was heartbroken to watch it… Dubois is on a whole new level. Dubois is one of the best heavyweights in the world. He would knock Jake Paul out with a jab.

“Believe you me, I’m not messing. It would just be an embarrassment.”

Tony Bellew hijacked Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson press event

Bellew played an unlikely role during Paul vs Tyson fight week.

The 41-year-old Englishman shockingly popped up during a pre-fight press conference two days before the controversial clash that attracted 60 viewers to Netflix.

It’s become a running joke that Paul fights old people, and Bellew took that gag to the level by wheeling out an extremely elderly man and offering him up as an opponent.

“Jake Paul, the biggest clown in boxing,” he began.

“If Mike lets you survive on [Friday] night, then I’ve got your next opponent for you here, Jake. If Mike lets him survive, I’ve got a great-grandfather – not a grandfather.

“This guy’s got two new hips, he’s 107 [years old], he’s a great grandfather, so he’s ready for you. Give this fella a chance. Come on, Jake.”

Bellew’s joke didn’t immediately hit the mark. The Creed star’s mic wasn’t powerful enough to reach the stage, so press conference host Ariel Helwani spent most of the speech asking, ‘Is that Tony Bellew?’

Bellew and his pal were quickly ushered out of the venue – but his stunt went viral soon after and seemingly left Paul wanting a much younger man as his next dance partner.
