Jake Paul pokes fun at UFC after Netflix reveals astronomical viewing figures for Mike Tyson showdown

Jake Paul has claimed that his controversial clash with Mike Tyson achieved a higher gate than any UFC event in history.

The social media star collided with the former world heavyweight champion at the AT&T Stadium, Texas, last Friday, securing a wide unanimous decision victory.

Mike Tyson, though, was proven to be a shadow of his former self, with the 58-year-old struggling to sustain any attack against his vastly unproven opponent.

Yet still, Jake Paul has largely been criticized for his lackluster performance, despite insisting that he took his foot off the gas to save Tyson from suffering any further damage.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson achieved the all-time biggest boxing gate outside of Las Vegas

Shortly after his victory over Tyson, Paul went even further to justify his flat performance by claiming that he had sustained an injury just two weeks before their fight.

And yet, it must be said that ‘The Problem Child’ was still better prepared than ‘Iron Mike,’ who was left fighting for his life after suffering an ulcer flare-up back in June.

But only now has the boxing legend revealed the gravity of his situation, leaving the vast majority of fans questioning why the event still went ahead.

Sure enough, their questions have all seemingly been answered by Netflix, with the streaming platform boasting their viewing figures in a recent press release.

Not only did the heavyweight dustup – lasting eight two-minute rounds – reach 60 million homes across the world, but it also recorded the all-time biggest boxing gate outside of Las Vegas.

In fact, the ticket sales revenue for Paul vs. Tyson – which reportedly exceeded $18 million – is double the gate that Canelo Alvarez generated in his Texas showdown with Billy Joe Saunders back in 2021.

Jake Paul claims that he achieved a bigger gate than any UFC event in history

Paul has often directed jibes at UFC boss Dana White, who put on a record-breaking spectacle at the Sphere, Las Vegas, back in September.

But the former Disney star has now suggested that his fight against Tyson did a higher gate than UFC 306, which reportedly reached nearly $22 million in ticket sales alone.

“Crazy that we did a bigger gate than every UFC event [in] history [and] that company is [30-plus] years old,” Paul said on X.

“Biggest gate of Mike Tyson’s career. Biggest attendance of Mike’s career. Biggest viewership of Mike’s career. Biggest combat sports gate in US combat sports history outside of Las Vegas. It takes [two] to tango.”
