‘He’s destroyed his legacy’… Former UFC title challenger slams Jon Jones for ‘ducking’ Tom Aspinall

Jon Jones looked devastating against Stipe Miocic last night, but with the heavyweight champion showing little enthusiasm for a showdown with Tom Aspinall, a former UFC title challenger has claimed ‘Bones’ has destroyed his ‘legacy’.

The MMA community is joined in unison in the hope that the undisputed and interim champions can agree a deal for the blockbuster match-up.

Colby Covington says Jon Jones is ‘scared’ of Tom Aspinall

At UFC 309, Jon Jones produced a destructive performance, finishing Stipe Miocic with a spinning back kick in the third round.

Alas, while, on paper, the name on his resume looks outstanding, in reality, the Croatian-American, who previously dazzled crowds with his thunderous power punches and slick boxing skills, was a shell of the fighter he used to be.

And that’s exactly why fans expressed in the build-up that they’d much rather watch a collision between ‘Bones’ and Tom Aspinall.

Alas, even with this weekend now in the rearview mirror, the two-weight champion is still reluctant to face the Englishman, leaving Colby Covington furious.

The welterweight is adamant that the 37-year-old has damaged his reputation beyond repair.

In an interview with Fight Hub, he said: “For sure, Jon Jones is scared of him, he’s ducking him, he doesn’t want to fight f***ing Tom Aspinall. That’s why he’s like, ‘I’ll vacate the title and fight the number ten guy’.

“He’s f***ing scared. Why do people think Jon Jones is the goat? He literally destroyed his legacy by ducking Tom Aspinall. The guy is a f***ing b***h; he’s a coward.”

Jon Jones says Tom Aspinall has done one thing that’s really annoyed him

With his shot at Jones seemingly slipping through his fingers, Aspinall has gone above and beyond to get the fight he so desperately craves.

In a testament to his resilience, he’s not stopped calling the champion’s name, hoping that eventually, the heavyweight King will give him his shot at the throne.

But there’s one thing in particular that Jones has admitted has really gotten under his skin.
