Daniel Cormier thinks Jon Jones is a ‘good dude’ deep down

As far as feuds go, Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier have perhaps the most deep-rooted MMA has ever seen.

These two men genuinely despised each other. From brawling at a media event located in the lobby of the MGM Grand to exchanging brutal insults at heated press conferences, the fighters never shied away from expressing how they feel about one another.

Over the course of two fights, the legends put it all on the line, leaving fans on the edge of their seats, with the shots exchanged in the cage.

Ultimately, while the grudge was fierce, the icons walked away from their bouts with an enormous amount of respect for one another.

WOW: What happened when Tom Aspinall crossed paths with Jon Jones’ brothers at UFC 309

Cormier has now candidly opened up to Henry Cejudo about how they’ve been there for each other during the toughest of times.

In a video uploaded to ‘Triple C’s’ YouTube channel, ‘DC’ said: “When my father passed, he sent me a message, he really did, and even in that moment, I appreciated that.

“For all that we’ve been through, I appreciated him sending me that message as I sent that message for his mother because we understand what family is… He did send me a message when my mother passed, and my father passed.

“There’s good in that dude. There really is. There’s good in that dude. I just ain’t really had the opportunity to see it, but we’ll see what time brings.”

Jon Jones finally explains what Tom Aspinall has done that has really annoyed him

While Jones’ rivalry with Cormier is over, his war-of-words with Tom Aspinall is just beginning.

The Englishman was sat cageside at UFC 309 last night, watching ‘Bones’ finish Stipe Miocic.

Of course, the interim champion is going out of his way to campaign for a shot at the undisputed title, but there’s one thing in particular he’s done that’s really gotten under the champion’s skin.
