Amanda Serrano mocks Katie Taylor’s ‘best attribute’ in first remarks after controversial rematch loss

Amanda Serrano questioned Katie Taylor’s power after their all-time great rematch in Dallas.

Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor put on one of the all-time great boxing matches, male or female, on the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson card. But, their 10-round war didn’t conclude without some controversy on the judges’ scorecards.

Taylor defeated Serrano by unanimous decision (95-94 x 3) to retain her female light-welterweight titles. Despite Taylor getting deducted one point for a headbutt, along with Serrano appearing to out-land Taylor, the Irish champion earned the nod on all three scorecards.

A soldout AT&T Stadium rained down boos as the Serrano vs. Taylor decision was announced. Many believed Serrano deserved to win the fight, as her trainer claimed during a post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani.

It didn’t take long for Serrano to address the loss on social media, and poke fun at Taylor’s multiple headbutts during the fight.

Amanda Serrano says Katie Taylor has “no punching power” after instant classic

In a recent post to X, Serrano addressed her controversial defeat to Taylor.

“To my fans I’m going to always give it everything I have. I’m a ruthless warrior & Katie is my buddy but Damn her best attribute is her head. No punching power but hard ass head lol,” Serrano said.

As for what’s next for both women, it’s unlikely a third fight between Taylor and Serrano will take place anytime soon. But, the questionable end to their run-back means a trilogy bout isn’t off the table in the future.

Amanda Serrano moves to 0-2 against Katie Taylor after a wild rematch

Serrano returned to the ring after five consecutive wins since her first loss to Taylor in April 2022. Despite the loss, Serrano retains her featherweight title and is expected to return to the ring sometime in 2025.

As for Taylor, her rematch with Serrano came after wins over Karen Carabajal and Chantelle Cameron. After a controversial majority decision loss to Cameron in May 2023, Taylor got the nod in their rematch to win back her light-welterweight championships.

Despite the heated debate regarding the Taylor vs. Serrano 2 scoring, both Taylor and Serrano have cemented themselves as all-time greats. Their two bouts have catapulted women’s boxing and helped bring worldwide recognition to female combat sports.

Serrano will look to get back on track in her next fight in hopes of earning another matchup with Taylor. For now, the sting of defeat is still fresh for Serrano, especially after many pundits believed she deserved the nod.
