While many are writing Stipe Miocic off ahead of his heavyweight championship fight with Jon Jones, an MMA icon is convinced that the Cleveland brawler has a clear path to victory.
The pair of combat sports legends are scheduled to go head-to-head at UFC 309 on November 16 in Madison Square Garden, New York, USA.

Chael Sonnen thinks Stipe Miocic can use his size and power to outstrike Jon Jones
Stipe Miocic is undeniably one of the greatest heavyweight fighters to have ever graced the sport.
Blessed with dynamite hands and sublime wrestling skills, the Croatian-American has carved his legacy in stone.
However, despite his greatness, many believe he’s in for a rude awakening when he fights Jon Jones later this month.
This is mostly because of Miocic’s inactivity since losing in devastating fashion to Francis Ngannou back in 2021.

However, Chael Sonnen isn’t so sure that ‘Bones’ will have it all his own way, insisting that the former King of the heavyweights will have a clear advantage when they meet in the cage.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, ‘The American Gangster’ said: “Well, Stipe’s old, but not much older than Jon. I won’t argue with you if you tell me Stipe is old by fighter standards, but I would argue if you told me Jon was young.
“Do you believe that Jon can just go take Stipe down whenever he wants? If you do believe that, now that’s something that Daniel Cormier couldn’t do.
“In one of the fights, there were two takedowns, and Stipe got them both. I’m just reminding you, do you believe that Jon can just take Stipe down?
“Do you think Stipe is the guy who will jump out of that window? I’m talking about the window of quitting. Do you think that’s going to happen to Stipe? If you don’t, we’re left back in the stand-up realm.
“Do you think Jon Jones can knockout Stipe Miocic? And that is the one place where that size and power actually comes in. It would move in Stipe’s favor, am I wrong about that? Do you believe Jon is the better stand-up fighter?”
UFC heavyweight legend is backing Stipe Miocic to beat Jon Jones
It appears Sonnen isn’t the only MMA icon giving Miocic a good chance of reclaiming his championship belt.
As the contest is drawing closer, more and more fighters are coming out from the woodwork to insist that the 42-year-old has the minerals to get the job done.
And recently, a former UFC heavyweight tiltle-holder made a massive statement in Miocic’s favor, claiming that he will finish Jones and ‘be the King’.
