‘I got one big concern with Tom Aspinall’… MMA legend reveals major fear for the UFC interim heavyweight champion that could be his undoing against Alex Pereira

Tom Aspinall has looked nothing short of sensational during his UFC career, and that’s partially why an MMA legend has his doubts.

Blessed with lightning hands and sublime Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the Englishman has destroyed every fighter who’s dared set foot in the octagon with him.

Chael Sonnen is worried for Tom Aspinall

Tom Aspinall has made waves in the UFC with his destructive performances, which have resulted in the powerhouse picking up the interim championship belt.

In fact, he’s been so impressive, that some fans are convinced that he’s struck fear into the heart of Jon Jones.

However, despite his clear quality inside the octagon, the Brit is still lacking something of paramount importance — cage time.

Unlike Jones and Alex Pereira, Aspinall hasn’t experienced what it’s like to go the five-round distance. And it terrifies Chael Sonnen.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, ‘The American Gangster’ said: “I got one concern with Tom, and I’m one of Tom’s biggest advocates, but I do have a concern. In his UFC career, he has only left the first round once.

“I don’t love that a guy hasn’t had to breathe 15 minutes in. I don’t love that a guy hasn’t had his nose put on the other side of his face. I don’t love that a guy hasn’t had to come off the stool behind, tired and hurt, and found a way to win.

“Jon Jones has been tested, Alex Pereira has been tested. And if Aspinall is so da*n good that nobody can test him, it’s an unfair thing to criticize. But for me, to wonder and tell you it’s a concern for me, it is.

“Lord knows, Tom has given some very good guys an opportunity who could’ve pushed him. But they didn’t.

“And at the end of the day, I don’t think Pereira is going to go away from a punch or two.”

Tom Aspinall reveals the trait of another UFC champion he’d like to call his own

While incredibly gifted within the world of combat sports, no fighter is perfect.

And Aspinall understands that, recently discussing the elements of his game, he’d like to improve.

He went as far as to confess that there’s one fellow UFC champion in particular, that he’d love to take a specific trait from.
