Ahead of his fight against Jhonata Diniz at UFC Edmonton this coming Saturday, UFC fan favorite Derrick Lewis has gone in on UFC legend Daniel Cormier in a bizarre media day interview.
Derrick Lewis is a fan favorite in the UFC for a reason, and that is because his powerhouse fight style is backed up by his hilarious personality outside of the Octagon.
‘The Black Beast’ is hoping to score back-to-back wins for the first time since 2020 with his last win coming against Rodrigo Nascimento this past May.

Derrick Lewis goes in on Daniel Cormier in bizarre rant
With Lewis having such a laid-back personality, it is hard to tell when the 39-year-old is being serious and this Wednesday at the UFC Edmonton media day was one of those situations.
Lewis started going in on former UFC double champion turned commentator, Daniel Cormier, labeling him a ‘scumbag’ and a ‘piece of sh*t’. The two fought back in 2018 when Cormier submitted him in the second round to retain his title.
When asked if there is a specific fight he would still like before he hangs up the gloves, Lewis stated ‘probably DC’.
“Probably DC because that one is still not sitting right with me, I don’t know man, do people really like DC like that? Come on man, that guy, I told DC in his face, that guy is a piece of sh*t, he’s a piece of sh*t scumbag, f*ck DC,” Lewis said in a relatively serious tone.
“He knows why, DC knows why… He’s a piece of sh*t,” Lewis continued.

Daniel Cormier responds to Derrick Lewis’ rant and sheds some light on his comments
Cormier is set to touchdown in Edmonton over the next few days as he will be part of the commentary team for the promotion’s return to Canada.
With that, the former champion is undoubtedly set to run into ‘The Black Beast’ at some point during the remainder of fight week and is relatively confused but not completely shocked that Lewis had some negative things to say about him.
Talking to Ariel Helwani on The Ariel Helwani Show, Cormier said: “I haven’t seen him for a while but I was pretty hard on him about retiring because he had lost a couple of fights and I was telling the truth, and he seemed mad at me but I haven’t seen him.
“I’m gonna see him this weekend and I’m gonna kind of ask him, like, ‘Yo, are you mad at me?’ There’s a little underlying (issue), it sounds like it might be a little underlying, he might be a little p*ssed at me maybe cause of the way I talked about him.
“We can’t be mad at each other, we already fought, it’s settled.”
If Lewis does pick up the win this weekend, there may be an awkward interaction between the two when Cormier steps into the Octagon to conduct the Octagon interview.
