Jorge Masvidal claims Leon Edwards ‘passed’ on an offer from the UFC to settle their differences, as he pleads with ‘Rocky’ to ‘sign the contract’

Jorge Masvidal has insisted that Leon Edwards rejected a fight offer from the UFC to face him in a major grudge match.

The pair of MMA icons have shared a heated feud since ‘Gamebred’ punched the Brit backstage at UFC London 2019, with his famous ‘Three-piece and a soda’.

Jorge Masvidal fires shots at Leon Edwards

Jorge Masvidal has craved his opportunity to share the octagon with Leon Edwards ever since the pair first engaged in their rivalry several years ago.

And now, seems like the perfect time to finally make the match-up fight fans desire.

On July 27, at UFC 304 at the Co-op Live in Manchester, UK, ‘Rocky’ lost his welterweight world title to a relentless Belal Muhammad.

Furthermore, earlier that month, on July 6 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, USA, Masvidal suffered a controversial defeat at the hands of Nate Diaz in a major boxing match.

Therefore, both men are in desperate need of a big win. However, according to the Miami native, Edwards isn’t interested.

In an interview with Inside Fighting, he said: “Let’s go, motherf***er, what’s the hold-up? Sign the contract. Let’s throw down. The f**k else you want? You’ve always wanted this fight.

“Now, we can get it done. You’re not the champion of the world, and I’m f***ing here. He says, I’m ‘easy pickings’, it would be ‘easy work’ for him, then f***ing come get this easy money, because I’m the highest f***ing name on there.

“There’s nobody f***ing with me, in the amount of exposure that I can get him. Me and leon, if he wants this heat, let’s f***ing go.

“UFC offered it to him. He passed on it. He passed on it, man, so whatever.”

Jorge Masvidal has started talks with the Italian government to stage major fight in the Colosseum

While Masvidal is undeniably still a huge name within the MMA world, with his career inside the cage coming to its end, he’s started making waves as a promoter.

His organization, Gamebred Fighting Championships, has staged a plethora of big shows, with the American owner now keen to push the boundaries even further.

The 39-year-old recently revealed he’s in negotiations to host a massive event at the Colosseum in Rome, Italy.

And Masvidal knows exactly who we wants to headline the show.
