Conor McGregor teases future Ilia Topuria fight in series of social media posts after Max Holloway KO at UFC 308

Conor McGregor isn’t deterred from facing Ilia Topuria after watching UFC 308.

McGregor teased a possible clash with UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria immediately after watching Topuria’s knockout of Max Holloway at UFC 308.

Topuria handed Holloway his first career knockout loss in the UFC 308 main event. It was the featherweight champion’s first title defense after knocking out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 in February.

After a back-and-forth first two rounds, Topuria dropped Holloway with a massive punch in Round 3, finishing the fight and delivering on his pre-fight prediction.

Conor McGregor promises to ‘Cave Ilia’s head in’ after UFC 308

Minutes after Topuria’s stunning knockout victory, McGregor implored the UFC to get on the phone, in a post to X.

“Call me,” McGregor tweeted.

After one fan predicted McGregor would knockout Topuria, the former two-division champion took it a step further.

“Cave his head in handy,” McGregor posted.

After initially teasing a Topuria fight, McGregor appeared to pivot on that stance in a third post, questioning the merit of the potential bout.

“Good little fighter, too small for anything substantial IMO,” McGregor posted. “He was getting chewed up there.”

McGregor then reminded fans of his featherweight tenure and declared himself the division’s all-time king.

“Few fw’s now in the mix, and I beat every single one of them,” McGregor said. “I am that divisions menace. Point blank. Everyone on that list I hurt badly and finish. Not one of them lay a glove on King Mac.”

Conor McGregor ramps up ongoing beef with Ilia Topuria after UFC 308

McGregor and Topuria have gone back and forth in the media for months, stemming from Topuria’s post-fight callout at UFC 298. Things have turned from competitive to personal over the last month with McGregor questioning Topuria’s heritage.

Topuria’s been accused by some of ‘copycatting’ McGregor in and out of the Octagon. His brash personality, combined with his elite boxing, have drawn comparisons between the two stars.

McGregor and Topuria also were embroiled in a recent social media squabble with UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad. Topuria has teased a potential triple-champ run and a future welterweight title challenge.

McGregor’s rise to UFC superstardom began in the featherweight division. On his championship ascent, he defeated UFC Hall of Famer José Aldo, Chad Mendes, and Poirier.

Topuria remains undefeated in his professional MMA career with the win over Holloway. A potential rematch with Volkanovski could be on the horizon.

As for McGregor, he’s targeting a 2025 return to the UFC, although in the meantime he isn’t mincing words when it comes to the current featherweight titleholder.
