‘Take note of this’… Conor McGregor sends warning to two-time boxing world champion considering bare-knuckle after third career loss

Conor McGregor has sent a message to an ex-world champion boxer considering a career change.

On Saturday, former unified super lightweight champion Regis Prograis scored an early knockdown before being dropped twice by Jack Catterall en route to a unanimous decision defeat at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester England.

The 29-3 American boxer, whose two other defeats came against Devin Haney and Josh Taylor, used his post-fight interview to talk up a potential career switch that could see him collaborate with McGregor‘s Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship [BFKC].

‘Notorious’ says he would welcome Prograis with open arms. However, Prograis also received a word of warning from the man who could soon be his new boss.

Regis Prograis suggests he’ll switch sports after latest loss

Prograis kept it classy during his post-fight interview as he praised Catterall as the best opponent he’s ever faced, and implored his promoter, Eddie Hearn, to make sure the Englishman gets a world title shot in his next fight.

‘Rougarou’ attracted attention from McGregor when asked what’s next for his combat sports career.

“Jack was just better, that’s all. Jack was the better man, I’m not gonna lie,” Prograis said.

“He deserves a world title fight. He definitely deserves a world title next. Good luck Jack.

“You’re really good. I’ve fought the best and you were the best out of all of them.

“I’ve had my time in the sun, now it’s time for the young ones… I might go to bare knuckle.

“I’m gonna do something else and let the young guys take over.”

Conor McGregor sends Regis Prograis message about ‘bare-knuckle fighting’

McGregor soon got wind of Prograis saying he fancies taking off the gloves for his next fight.

The former dual-weight champion says Prograis is more than welcome to join his promotion.

Although, McGregor is unsure if he’ll enjoy the same success in bare-knuckle as he did in boxing.

He tweeted: “2 time boxing world champion Regis Prograis looking to take off the gloves for Bare Knuckle FC’s 5 fast paced, 2 minute rounds, Yes the surface damage is a lot more gruesome but with intimate skills in the boxing realm could he successfully make the switch?

“We already have one two-time boxing world champion who has, and he is now World Champion Bare Knuckle Welterweight champion! We would welcome! It’s not bare knuckle boxing however, make sure and take note of this. It is bare knuckle fighting.

“There is no red and blue corner, you start centred in the ring behind a line directly in front of your opponent, and elements of clinch fighting are allowed. You can cup the back of opponents head and throw with the free hand fully legal.

“An amazing game! Most entertaining bang for buck show on the market today and it is not even close. A lot of the straight bare knuckle fighters feel disgruntled at thinking others can come into their sole sport and seek to take from their work. They fight ferociously to defend. It’s exciting times all round at Bare Knuckle FC.”
