‘It would be an honor’… Jorge Masvidal bangs the drum for potential ‘BMF’ vs. ‘BMF’ showdown

Jorge Masvidal is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in UFC history, with his fearless style and no-nonsense attitude capturing the imagination of MMA fans.

The 39-year-old became a mainstream attraction following his emphatic knockout against Ben Askren, when he pulverized the Olympian with an awe-inspiring flying knee in 2019.

In his next outing, ‘Gamebred’ collided with UFC veteran Nate Diaz, securing the coveted BMF title with a ruthless third-round finish to their enthralling spectacle.

Since then, however, Jorge Masvidal has suffered four defeats on the bounce, albeit against elite level operators such as Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.

Jorge Masvidal calls out Max Holloway ahead of his UFC featherweight title clash with Ilia Topuria

Max Holloway will take on pound-for-pound star and featherweight king Ilia Topuria this Saturday at UFC 308.

‘Blessed’ comes off a scintillating performance against Justin Gaethji, producing a stunning finish at the end of round five to claim the BMF lightweight strap.

But now, the 32-year-old has moved down to his former division in a bid to reclaim his old trinket, currently held by formidable featherweight champion Topuria.

And yet Masvidal, despite campaigning at welterweight, believes that a future clash between him and Holloway is not beyond the realms of possibility.

“It would be an honor to get in there with Max,” Masvidal told MMAFightingonSBN. “We’d put on a f***ing epic show. One of those fights for all the generations, all lifetime. I wouldn’t mind that.

“One ‘BMF’ has the quickest knockout ever, the other ‘BMF’ has the latest knockout ever in a fight. It was at 4:59 in round five. So many interesting [parts] to me and Max fighting.

“We’re not going to grapple, obviously, we’re just going to stand there and bite down on the mouthpiece and f***cking let the leather go.”

Max Holloway opens up about brain health ahead of UFC 308

While a potential battle with Masvidal is by no means out of the question, Holloway nonetheless remains laser focused on his upcoming assignment.

At Wednesday’s UFC 308 media day, though, the American raised an important issue that took many reporters by surprise.

Having taken a record number of 2,223 significant strikes throughout his illustrious career with MMA’s flagship promotion, Holloway insists that he remains mindful of potential brain health ramifications.

And so, in a somewhat unexpected digression, he said: “I don’t want to be a vegetable when I’m older. .. I take brain health so serious.”
