Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone reveals he is coming out of retirement to fight twice more in the UFC… ‘I now have to come off and p*ss clean’

After a loss to Jim Miller at UFC 276 in 2022, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone decided to call an end to his incredible UFC career, announcing his retirement.

Throughout his long 11-year tenure in the premier promotion, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone became one of the biggest stars in the UFC to have never won a title.

After a seven-fight streak where he couldn’t pick up a win, Cerrone decided at 39 years old he was going to step away from what had been his entire life.

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone announces UFC comeback after 2-year retirement

Following his retirement, ‘Cowboy’ was brutally honest that he wanted to go and make a lot of money by starring in films and also was candidly honest that he wanted to get on steroids.

The 41-year-old did just that as just a few months after his UFC retirement, he looked almost unrecognisable after packing on an obscene amount of muscle mass.

However, in typical UFC retirement fashion, Cerrone has revealed that he is making a comeback and will fight twice more under the UFC banner to reach 50 UFC fights.

“I want to go back and get two more fights. I retired, I told you I was gonna get my hair done and getting on steroids,” Cerrone began to explain in a video on his Instagram.

“The number 50 has been sitting in my mind for a while. Working with transcend the last two years, taking TRT and a bunch of peptides now we’ve got a protocol for all you people that say, ‘Oh what if you get on it, you can’t ever come off?’ well, I now have to come off and p*ss clean.

“Fight in a few months, so watch this,” Cerrone added.

Comeback fight options for Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone

Although Cerrone has claimed he will be fighting in a few months, he will need to be in the testing pool for six months and will need to provide two clean tests before he can fight in the Octagon again.

As of October 15, 2024, Cerrone is yet to have been tested under the UFC’s new anti-doping policy, according to the database.

A fight that could make sense for both is a rematch between Cerrone and Tony Ferguson. Despite his historic losing streak, Ferguson has admitted that he won’t be retiring and is looking to return in January or February.

When the two fought in 2019, the fight ended rather unceremoniously when the doctor called the fight after Cerrone’s eye blew up after he attempted to blow his nose.

It is unclear what weight class Cerrone will return to compete in, with his last five fights having come at 170lbs.
