With his UFC comeback impending, Conor McGregor has been laying the foundations for several possible bouts, with his latest target being current welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad.
Having not fought under the UFC banner since 2021, fans are seemingly losing patience with Conor McGregor despite him constantly talking about his impending return to the Octagon.
This past weekend at BKFC Spain, McGregor told Bloody Elbow that he is targeting a return in February in Saudi Arabia, naming Dan Hooker as the potential beneficiary after the two spoke extensively at the event.

Conor McGregor blasts Belal Muhammad as he targets a third title
‘The Notorious’ was of course scheduled to return earlier this year against Michael Chandler but he withdrew from their welterweight bout a few weeks before the event.
During his time away from fighting, the Irishman has packed on the pounds and is looking as big as he’s ever looked, making a return to lightweight unlikely.
With that, the UFC’s first simultaneous double champion is targeting the ‘triple crown’ as he is hoping he can once again make UFC history by becoming the first fighter to win a title in three different weight classes, turning his attention to Belal Muhammad.
“I’d love to crush my left hook into Belal’s temple and take down the triple crown,” McGregor commented in a now-deleted tweet on X.
“I’d do it easily. And fast! I’d cave his skull heavy! The hurdles I face getting back to the Octagon are just harrowing. I am so sad over my June 29th fight cancelation. To think this bum (Belal Muhammad) is now a UFC champion with zero knockdowns on his resume whatsoever is so bad. The UFC’s most abysmal zero revenue generating fighter in modern history,” McGregor continued.
This isn’t the first time the 36-year-old has taken aim at Muhammad as earlier this week, he and Ilia Topuria seemingly teamed up to clown the current 170lb champ.
McGregor isn’t the only one slamming Muhammad for his fight style as former champion TJ Dillashaw also commented on Muhammad recently, evoking a response.
“There’s a stat that I saw… Belal Muhammad has got 4 hours 17 minutes and 38 seconds in the cage in the UFC and he has zero knockdowns,” Dillashaw stated on the Jaxxon Podcast.
“Didn’t this juice head have to take EPO to win fights?” Muhammad responded.
The storyline around a potential McGregor vs Muhammad fight
‘Remember The Name’ is scheduled to make the first defense of his title at UFC 310 as he takes on the undefeated phenom, Shavkat Rakhmonov.
Before winning the title from Leon Edwards at UFC 304 this past June, Muhammad had been training with Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team, leveling up his game tenfold.
McGregor’s rivalry with ‘The Eagle’ still stands as the most bitter rivalry in the promotion’s history and with Muhammad now training with Nurmagomedov, there is already a storyline around a potential Muhammad vs McGregor fight.
Despite that, the former double champion will have to return in extremely impressive fashion first, by picking up a win against a very solid opponent.
