‘I would love to see it’… Conor McGregor offers to help train Sean O’Malley to ‘regain the Gold’ after squashing beef in respectful exchange

Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley and former double champion Conor McGregor have finally settled their long-term feud; with ‘Notorious’ even offering to help train ‘Suga’ back to ‘regain the Gold’.

The pair of combat sports superstars are finally back on the same page, with both athletes expressing their desire to see the other back in the octagon and fighting for world titles once again.

Former UFC champion Sean O’Malley squashes his beef with Conor McGregor

Sean O’Malley and Conor McGregor had been embroiled in a bitter back-and-forth for a number of years; that was until earlier today when the pair managed to end their feud with a respectful exchange online.

“Me and Conor have been going back and forth, here and there or whatever [for a while] but at the end of the day, he played an important role in my career,” O’Malley acknowledged on a recent episode of the ‘Join The Lobby’ Podcast.

“It always will be inspiration to me at some point – right now, I wouldn’t say he necessarily is, [but] I do think he does want to get back to fighting… I think that there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes with Conor than people know or speculate on.

“I would like to, personally as a fan, see him come back but also, I hope he’s just doing okay.”

As aptly noted by the former bantamweight champion, there are only a handful of athletes in the entire world who can claim to understand the pressure that comes with that much media attention and money in the bank.

“You’re not taught how to be famous; you’re not taught what to do with all of this money you make, and he was a broke guy from Ireland who blew up on our screens to make hundreds of millions of dollars.

“He has a big family now, a bunch of kids, and I hope he’s doing good.”

To his credit, McGregor would match the cool and calm demeanor of ‘Suga’ as he took to X to confirm that their beef is squashed – and also that he’d like coach Tim Welch to join him out in Ireland for a special training camp.

“Sean is a fighting legend! UFC champion and an incredible superstar! I would love, love, love to see, and I can set it up fully, himself and his long time coach, Tim Welch, do a stint in Ireland.”

According to McGregor, even just a “4 week run at SBG Ireland under Johns coaching,” would be enough for Suga to see his powers improve tenfold – “I am telling you he would regain his title.

“He has a shot at regaining it still for sure, but for himself, and also his coach to spend a good month, to begin with, not a long time, but a good solid month under coach Kav at SBG.

“They would take heaps of knowledge back with them and onward to regain the Gold. I would love to see it!”

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow this past weekend, McGregor stated he’d be making his UFC return in February 2025 in Saudi Arabia; and that his opponent is now looking to be Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker.
