Following his win over Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC Paris this past Saturday, the Brazilian failed to move up in the lightweight rankings despite the emphatic second-round finish.
Being one of the most outspoken fighters on the UFC roster, of course, Renato Moicano published his anger towards the rankings panel a few days later.
Fortunately for ‘Money Moicano’, he has the backing of his UFC boss, Dana White, who has also this year consistently complained about the rankings, especially the pound-for-pound rankings as Jon Jones isn’t currently ranked number one.

Dana White tells Moicano not to worry, AI will soon be used to fix UFC rankings
With the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence on everyday life, the UFC CEO recently revealed that they are working on an AI system to run the rankings and will go away from having a panel that updates them.
“If the UFC rankings aren’t total bullsh*t, I should be ranked (number) 6 in the lightweight division tomorrow. Why? In the last 8 months, I’ve fought 3 times and I’m on a 6-fight win streak in the lightweight division with 5 stoppages,” Moicano posted on X.
Talking about the issues with the rankings, White told Moicano not to worry as AI will soon come into the fray to eradicate these ongoing issues.
“Let’s get into this. Khamzat Chimaev is (ranked) number 12, Max Holloway is number 10 (in the lightweight division), the guy he knocked out is number three, so, I gotta find some media guys that know the fight sport and understand the sport of fighting that are actually doing the rankings,” White began to explain in an interview with Kevin Iole.
“The rankings are definitely a problem, Moicano I agree with you 100%, but don’t worry my friend AI will be here soon and this will all be fixed. We get all these bums that know nothing about fighting out of this sh*t and get AI in here and we can fix all of these rankings,” he continued.
Although there is a clear issue with how the rankings are being updated, the Brazilian doesn’t need to fear too much, as this weekend at UFC 307, Alex Pereira defends his title against Khalil Rountree Jr, who is ranked number eight in his division.

Who could potentially be next for Renato Moicano?
With the 35-year-old sitting at rank 11 in the division, he made a comical statement regarding Dan Hooker being ranked number five, likening it to a ‘turtle being at the top of a tree’, wondering how he got there.
After the two have shared comments online, fans have salivated over the thought of a matchup between the two brawlers, however, Hooker seemingly has his eyes on Justin Gaethje.
Unfortunately for Moicano, the top of the lightweight division is in a very similar position that it has been in for a while now, with the top five being the same names.
A fight between ‘The Hangman’ and ‘Money’ Moicano makes the most sense, with Gaethje having also considered a trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.
