‘My knee is still messed up’… Former Jon Jones opponent claims the UFC heavyweight champion is ‘The dirtiest fighter ever’

Jon Jones is quite possibly the most talented fighter the sport of MMA has ever seen, but his tactics are sometimes questionable, with a UFC legend calling him ‘The dirtiest fighter ever’.

The heavyweight champion is renowned for his creative striking and fighting IQ, but he also has a history of poking his opponents in the eye.

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson calls Jon Jones ‘The dirtiest fighter ever’

Blessed with a remarkable array of strikes, Jon Jones has cemented his place as a UFC legend, winning world titles in two weight divisions.

However, while many mixed martial arts fans appreciate his sensational achievements, having shared the cage with him, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson has a different perspective.

The sporting titans went head-to-head on September 24, 2011, at UFC 135, with ‘Bones’ coming away the victor via a fourth-round rear-naked choke.

While many years have passed since they shared the octagon, Rampage claims his knee still isn’t what it was before.

In an interview uploaded to YouTube, by Chris Van Vliet, the MMA icon said: “That’s the only fight in my career where I’ve been almost close to 100%. I trained really hard to where I was overconfident. I thought I was going to beat the s**t out of that kid.

“But I’m going to be 100, even if he was standing in this room, I would say it, he’s the dirtiest fighter ever and the guy is so smart, he does the most dirtiest things.

“They [The UFC] changed the gloves just because of Jon Jones. They changed the design of the gloves, so you can’t hold your hand out like this no more. He’s going to poke you in the eye.

“And then, if you advance or do anything good, you get the advantage, he’s going to kick you in the knee. He’s kicking you right on your kneecap.

“I think that should be banned because those two things can end somebody’s career—if you detach my retina, you mess my knee up really bad. My knee is still messed up from that.”

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson admits the only time he ‘lost his temper’ in a fight

While Rampage claims Jones did a horrifying amount of damage to his knee, the polarizing star is still not the opponent who angered him the most.

In one fight, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson took an array of brutal shots, conceding: “I couldn’t pretend I wasn’t in pain.”

To get out of the situation, he had to resort to doing something drastic.

During an intriguing interview, he spoke all about that painful night.
