Since the announcement of Alex Pereira’s title defense against Khalil Rountree Jr at UFC 307, former champion Jamahal Hill has made it clear he doesn’t agree with ‘War Horse’ getting a title shot.
Jamahal Hill has attempted to continue his short feud with Alex Pereira even despite the fact he was knocked out by the Brazilian at UFC 300 this past April.
‘Sweetdreams’ campaigned for a rematch against ‘Poatan’ but was unfortunately not afforded one and the Brazilian went on to defend his 205lb title against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303.
Hill was scheduled to take on Khalil Rountree Jr on the International Fight Week card but the latter was pulled from the event after testing positive for a banned substance.

Jamahal Hill reveals he will be in attendance for UFC 307
Despite being pulled from UFC 303 in June, Rountree Jr has now been given the shot to take on Pereira at UFC 307 on October 5, something that hasn’t sat well with Hill.
With the 33-year-old still hopeful of getting back to a title shot against ‘Poatan’, he will likely have to pick up another win before he is awarded another title fight.
However, the former champion has revealed that he will be in attendance for UFC 307 in Salt Lake City, Utah, as he has claimed that the fight will affect what’s next for him, possibly hinting that he believes he will be fighting for the title next, no matter what.
Although he will be in attendance for the fight, he is unlikely to be asked by the UFC to weigh in as a backup fighter for the main event.
“Yeah I’m gonna go out there just because it makes sense, it affects what’s next for me and things like that. I haven’t changed my tune, it’s a weird booking but it is what it is,” Hill admitted on FunkMasterMMA.
Jamahal Hill believes Pereira will struggle against southpaw Rountree Jr
The general consensus amongst the fanbase is that this fight will end in a knockout for either fighter, with both being known for their explosive striking.
Rountree Jr’s head coach recently admitted that he believes Pereira will shoot for a takedown and change his game plan once he feels ‘War Horse’s’ striking.
Despite that, Hill is confident that the fight will end in a knockout and he believes ‘Poatan’ will struggle against the southpaw, as he did against Bruno Silva in 2022.
“It’s gonna be a knockout, 100% it’s gonna be a knockout. Khalil doesn’t have a five-round gas tank and he’s gassed at paces that were much slower than the pace that he’s gonna have to fight with Alex.
“Alex is gonna come out slow he’s gonna come out and take his time… Although he does look like he just wants to feel out, he’s a lot more forward-imposing than he looks.
“The things that Khalil has going for him is that he’s a southpaw and he has valuable threats from southpaw… I haven’t seen (Pereira) dominate a southpaw that has multiple threats from southpaw… If you have weapons from southpaw, he struggles, he definitely struggles,” Hill predicted.
