With UFC 306 just around the corner, a UFC icon has predicted that Merab Dvalishvili will produce a stunning performance over Sean O’Malley.
The bantamweight title clash will go down during the promotion’s debut at the Sphere in Las Vegas, USA, on September 14.

Henry Cejudo predicts Merab Dvalishvili will beat Sean O’Malley at UFC 306
Having shared the cage with Merab Dvalishvili, Henry Cejudo knows just how good a fighter he is.
At UFC 298 back in February, ‘Triple C’ felt the full force of the Georgian as he was carried around the cage and dumped, en route to losing a unanimous decision.
With that in mind, he’s extremely confident that his old rival has the ability to do something truly special later this month.
Not only does he think that Dvalishvili will beat Sean O’Malley for the 135-pound title, but he’ll do so in devastating fashion.
OH NO: Chael Sonnen reveals the one UFC call-out that went horribly wrong
He told: MMAJunkie: “This is my prediction: Merab Dvalishvili is going to stop Sean O’Malley at the Sphere. He’s going to beat him. He’s going to either 50-45 him, maybe not 50-45 because he may lose the first two rounds or the first one at least.
“He’s going to beat him, but once Umar [Nurmagomedov] comes in, he’s just going to have his way with Merab. He really is. Umar is really good, really technical.”
Cejudo later added that he’s keen to move down to flyweight for another shot at championship gold.
The 37-year-old exclaimed: “There could be a potential return at flyweight. These are a lot of things I’m contemplating, potentially going back down.
“With the bantamweight division getting hot and with the newcomers coming in, there’s been a lot of thought of me going back down and getting a fight with Brandon Moreno and winning the belt once again.
“There’s a lot of cool stuff. These are kind of things I really want to think about and really decide once I get home, and once, I’m injury-free.”
He continued: “It’s just one little thing, but it’s a major thing. Because I’m going to be making a commitment to go out there and just do another run, do another run at these titles and dedicate myself like I was before.”
“I’m after gold now. I think if I do go down to 125 pounds and stay disciplined, I don’t think there’s anyone that can beat me. Plus, I think there’s a fun fight with Moreno.
“He wanted to fight me at 135, and then he backed out like a little b*tch. Now, I think if I go down and I beat him in Mexico, in his own country, I think that could be a big-a*s payday too.”
Daniel Cormier and Ben Askren argue over Merab Dvalishvili’s cut
While Cejudo is extremely optimistic that we’re on the cusp of watching Dvalishvili having the belt wrapped around his waist, Daniel Cormier has his concerns.
The former two-division world champion has expressed fears that a cut sustained above ‘The Machine’s’ eye, could severely debilitate him in the fight.
However, ‘DC’s’ good friend Ben Askren completely disagrees, claiming that it’s not a big deal whatsoever.
He also fired a massive shot at ‘DC’ for thinking it will be.
