Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson have one of the longest-standing feuds in UFC history and the fact that they never ended up meeting inside the Octagon will go down as one of the biggest what-ifs.
Throughout both of their UFC careers, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson have been booked to fight each other a whopping five times, but never made it into the Octagon with each other.
Despite that, the feud between them carried on throughout their careers and has even carried on throughout ‘The Eagles’ retirement.

Khabib Nurmagomedov urges Tony Ferguson to finally retire from MMA
The undefeated Russian champion bowed out of the sport whilst at the absolute top and still in his prime, something that still angers UFC fans to this day.
However, ‘El Cucuy’ is still competing in the promotion after 13 years, but it hasn’t been going very well for him, as the 40-year-old is currently on an eight-fight losing streak and continues to refuse to retire.
Earlier this week, footage surfaced of Nurmagomedov talking about how a fight against Ferguson would’ve gone if they ever finally made it to the Octagon. The 35-year-old claimed that Ferguson’s only chance of winning would be to land a lucky punch.
This didn’t sit well with ‘El Cucuy’ who took his frustration to Instagram, where he called Khabib a ‘coward like chicken’.
Despite their feud, looking out for Ferguson’s longevity past fighting, Khabib replied by urging him to retire, taking the same stance as the large majority of MMA fans.
“You know what’s interesting, I didn’t say anything about you, people just post whatever they want on the internet and write that it’s Khabib. Enjoy your life and your family, leave this sport for the young fighters,” Nurmagomedov urged Ferguson on X.
Tony Ferguson believes the fans will follow him wherever he goes
After placing one glove down in the center of the Octagon following his recent loss to Michael Chiesa, ‘El Cucuy’ went on to admit that he won’t be retiring from combat sports.
His future in the UFC at this point is unclear as it is unknown whether he still has fights remaining on his current contract.
If his UFC deal is up, it is extremely unlikely that he will be offered another contract, but that won’t deter him from competing elsewhere.
The 40-year-old stated following his loss, that after hearing the support from the crowd, he knows they will follow him to another venture, and he doesn’t know what that will be as of yet, having hinted at Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and boxing.
