Dana White says Merab Dvalishvili used ‘bush shears’ to cut out his own stitches

Dana White thinks Merab Dvalishvili must be trolling him after he watched the bantamweight cut his stitches out with ‘bush shears’.

The UFC President has gone from feeling utter rage towards the fighter’s antics to coming to the conclusion that he’s actually quite amused by the whole situation.

Dana White thinks Merab Dvalishvili must be trolling him

Last week, Dana White branded Merab Dvalishvili ‘next level stupid’ for posting a video of a cut sustained above his eye on his Instagram page.

With the Georgian set to square off with Sean O’Malley for bantamweight gold on September 14 at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, the UFC President couldn’t get his head around why Dvalishvili would reveal the injury.

Fuelled by the boss’ words, the contender decided to take things up a notch, posting another video. On this occasion, he used enormous scissors to cut the stitches out of his own face.

This time around, White saw the funny side, telling MMA Junkie and other reporters after DWCS 69, that he has a newfound respect for the fighter.

He chuckled: “Isn’t he awesome? I think he’s just f***ing with me now, to be honest with you. Do what you want. Have you ever seen the scissors they take stitches out with? They’re tiny, and they have that thing on there, so you don’t cut yourself.

“They can slide them up under the stitches, and you don’t cut yourself, and this dude had f***ing bush shears that he was using, that you trim your f***ing bushes with, that gardeners use. Whatever, good for him.”

Daniel Cormier and Ben Askren clash over Merab Dvalishvili’s cut

While the UFC President has warmed to the situation, Daniel Cormier is still deeply concerned.

The former heavyweight champion believes that the cut could explode open the second O’Malley hits the challenger at UFC 306.

However, Ben Askren doesn’t believe it’s a particularly big deal, claiming that most cuts aren’t a major issue.

The pair engaged in a heated debate over the whole thing, with ‘Funky’ nailing ‘DC’ with a vicious insult.
