Chael Sonnen makes interesting point about Conor McGregor

After spending years away from competition, Conor McGregor finally announced his return against Michael Chandler in a bout that the world couldn’t wait for.

The pair went above and beyond to sell the fight, engaging in a plethora of verbal exchanges during their time on The Ultimate Fighter.

Alas, due to an injury sustained during training, the Irishman had to withdraw from the event, with no return date in sight.

McGregor has publically pleaded with Dana White to rearrange the contest for December, but he’s yet to have much joy.

On a recent episode of the Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast, Chael Sonnen gave his perspective on the matter, claiming the Dubliner has ‘humbled’ himself.

He said: “Dana has been very clear in the last two weeks that Conor McGregor is not fighting this year. [Dana] said, ‘He’s not fighting this year, but he is blowing me up. He does want to fight in December. We’ll see what happens. If I get a right sign, I will make an announcement’.”

Sonnen added: “I believe that he wants to fight. I believe he is going behind the scenes. He loves to faint power. He loves to let people know, ‘It’s all my decision’. I believe he has humbled himself to say ‘I need the organization to sign off on this’.”

Regardless of whether the fight with ‘Iron’ gets rescheduled or not, the former double champion has more than one option on the table.

Dan Hooker wants Conor McGregor

Following his victory at UFC 305, Dan Hooker got on the mic and made his claim for a fight with Conor McGregor.

The New Zealander is renowned for his exciting style and would undoubtedly gel with the legend to create an incredible spectacle in the cage.

In addition, he’d love nothing more than to bypass Chandler and secure the match-up for himself.

After his big win at the weekend, he explained why he’d revel in the chance to ‘snake’ the American out of the fight.
