Dana White asked to cut MMA fighter ‘immediately’ after loss at UFC 305

Angry MMA fans have asked Dana White to ‘immediately’ cut a UFC star after they deemed his performance at UFC 305 ‘pathetic’.

The major event in Perth, Australia, lived up to the hype, with plenty of memorable moments, but one fight failed to deliver.

Dana White asked to cut Herbert Burns after loss at UFC 305

Yesterday evening, Herbert Burns succumbed to his fourth consecutive defeat, losing to Jack Jenkins via third-round retirement.

From the outset, the Australian looked the superior striker, landing heavy shots to his opponent’s head and body.

Taking heavy punishment, Gilbert Burns‘ brother attempted to get the fight to the floor, which he did on a couple of occasions. Alas, he couldn’t take advantage.

As the seconds ticked by, the 36-year-old grew noticeably more tired, eventually taking a leg kick, followed by an overhand right, that sent him crashing towards the canvas.

Realizing he was on the cusp of victory, the Victoria native swarmed in for the finish, landing vicious ground and pound.

However, coming to the conclusion that he’d have a better chance of landing the fight-ending blow on the feet, he stepped back to the center of the cage and invited Burns to join him.

However, the former welterweight world title challenger’s sibling seemingly refused to get up, forcing Marc Goddard to call a halt to the action with 48 seconds left to go.

The bizarre ending prompted a furious reaction from the MMA community, with many asking Dana White to release the Rio athlete.

One fan wrote: “Cut him immediately,” while another added: “One of the most pathetic showings I’ve ever seen on the UFC.”

A third asserted: “I think that is the last Herbert Burns fight we see in the UFC.”

However, as crazy as the finish was, there was another moment on the card that was possibly even stranger.

Junior Tafa slaps Valter Walker after submission defeat

Showcasing tremendous Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills, Valter Walker submitted Junior Tafa via heel hook with four seconds left of the first round.

However, the Australian didn’t tap, which resulted in him reacting furiously to the referee’s decision to end the contest.

In this instance, the official had heard the fighter scream, which resulted in a verbal submission.

But that didn’t stop Tafa from mouthing off at his opponent before slapping him in the face.

Regardless, while this was going on, somewhere in the middle of the ocean, Johnny Walker was watching on a boat, and producing an utterly incredible celebration when his brother claimed the victory.
