Dustin Poirier has a very different recollection of his last run-in with Colby Covington as the pair’s bitter rivalry continues.
The former UFC interim champions; Poirier at lightweight and Covington at welterweight, have been feuding since 2020 when the latter was kicked out of American Top Team. Covington is wildly unpopular at the gym, having problems with the likes of Poirier and Jorge Masvidal amongst others.
And it appears that the pair ran into one another in Florida recently, despite both having different accounts of what happened.

Colby Covington details run-in with Dustin Poirier in Florida steakhouse
Colby Covington is no stranger to a controversial moment on the streets with a rival; infamously having police called when he found himself in an altercation with Masvidal. And it appears that he had another one with Dustin Poirier at a steakhouse in Florida in the past few moths.
“I crossed paths with him about three months ago at NYY Steakhouse, Coconut Creek Casino, which is in the same city he trains at, the gym,” Covington told Submission Radio. “He came by the steakhouse and I looked at him eye-to-eye.
“And I was like, ‘What’s up b****? It’s on sight? Do something, say something,’ and he just walked right out the restaurant because he knows. You can talk big to the media, you can talk big in front of a camera.
“But when you’re in front of someone’s face and you feel their energy and you know what they’re capable of, that’s when it’s a different story. Now you can’t run your mouth, now you can’t do anything.
“If you wanted to do something, he could have done something. I stood up, I looked him right in the eyes and he walked right out of the restaurant like a good little b—-.”
Dustin Poirier denies most of Colby Covington’s story of altercation
On Dustin Poirier’s end, he isn’t interested in divulging too much about what happened. He would rather not give Covington, a renowned trash talker and prankster, a platform and opted not to give away too much about the incident.

However, he was keen to insist that his rival was not telling the truth about what went down during a brief comment in a recent interview. “The dude is such a liar,” Poirier told MMA Junkie when asked about the incident.
“I’m not even going to give him the air time,” he continued, before downright saying that “It’s a lie. We ran into each other, yeah, that’s true. The way he said it went down, is completely not true. He wants you to talk about him.”
