‘I don’t know how I got home’… Logan Paul admits concerns over Jake Paul’s drinking before Mike Perry fight

Jake Paul viciously stopped Mike Perry on Saturday night to set up another super-fight, but his brother wasn’t too keen on his pre-fight antics.

The 10-1 boxer broke up his training camp just two weeks out from the bout to travel from his Puerto Rico base and attend the Michael Rubin ‘White Party’ in New York. The likes of Kim Kardashian, Drake and Leonardo DiCaprio were in attendance for the star-studded event, and alcohol was flowing.

Despite being within the final days of preparation for an already hastily-arranged boxing event, and with his Mike Tyson showdown on the line, the younger Paul sibling opted to enjoy a heavy night with pals. And his brother Logan Paul admitted to being concerned about the decision pre-fight.

During the build-up to his fight with Mike Perry, fans on social media were surprised to see Jake Paul making an appearance at the Michael Rubin ‘White Party’ in a plush New York suburb. He was photographed with the likes of Machine Gun Kelly and other A-Listers just three weeks from fight night.

He insisted that he wasn’t drinking in social media posts around the event, but has since revealed that he did enjoy a heavy night out where he ‘didn’t know how I got home’. This concerned his brother Logan, who told him on a post-fight episode of his podcast BS with Jake Paul that it was a surprising decision.

“Why did you do that?” Logan asked, to which his brother replied “Why not?” Logan then noted that it was “because you have a massive fight two weeks later and if you lose that fight you don’t get to fight Mike Tyson.”

Jake joked that he wasn’t concerned because he ‘doesn’t lose’, before getting serious and noting that his activity in the past year was such that he could afford a night off during camp. Within the last 11 months, he had already fought three times; beating Nate Diaz, Andre August and Ryan Bourland.

“I just know my ability,” he explained. “Also, there’s this whole thing about drinking being bad for you, which I get if you’re doing it on a consistent basis. But I was sober for, like, two months, in camp working my b***s off and then one day of liver dehydration isn’t going to take away my skillset.”

Logan then told a story of when he traveled to Italy over the summer during a trip with his fiancee where he drank heavily after a lengthy period of sobriety. He vowed never to drink again, despite he and his brother joking that alcoholism ‘doesn’t just run, but sprints’ in their family.

“I got violently hungover,” he explained. “I threw up like 15 times, it was horrible and because of that I’m never drinking again and I mean that. It f***ed me up, so if you had got hungover like that, it would have been bad.”

However, it appears that the alcohol didn’t affect Paul’s performance too much as he walked through BKFC star Perry with relative ease. The social media star dropped his rival in the first and second, before a worrying third and fourth.

But he found his second wind in rounds five and six before eventually landing the stoppage, much to the delight of his team who now move on to a massive November 15 showdown with boxing icon Mike Tyson. The pair will do battle at the AT&T Stadium in Texas in front of an estimated 80,000+ fans.

Speaking after the fight, Paul said: “Everyone said I was an idiot for taking this fight, that I was risking it but this is why I’m here, I take big risks. Mike, I love you but this is my sport. You’re a legend, you’re one of the two most famous boxers ever to live.

“You and Muhammad Ali. It’s an honour to get in the ring with you. I’m so, so honoured; you’re a legend, but I’m going to take your throne, brother.”
