UFC Denver fighter launches expletive-laced rant at Dricus Du Plessis over ‘African champion’ comments

Ahead of his fight at UFC Denver, middleweight Abdul Razak Alhassan launched a scathing attack on the current king of the 185lb division.

12-6 middleweight contender Abdul Razak Alhassan returns to action this weekend to face Cody Brundage in the main card opener of UFC Fight Night Denver.

Not wanting to let the opportunity to write a few pre-fight headlines go to waste, Alhassan certainly chose not to mince his words as he roasted champion Dricus Du Plessis in a must-watch minute-long rant.

Abdul Razak Alhassan launches verbal assault on Dricus Du Plessis

Speaking to the media ahead of his return fight against Cody Brundage at UFC Denver, Abdul Razak Alhassan undoubtedly gave the most memorable pre-fight interview of the lot.

The 38-year-old Ghanian took aim at middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis over his ongoing feud with Israel Adesanya, and specifically ‘Stillknocks’ comments surrounding him being the ‘true African champion’.

“I respect Dricus, I respect the part [when he] says he’s representing Africa, I respect the things he’s done in MMA but he’s a f**** piece of s*** a****** for those words that he used.”

Alhassan argued that if Du Plessis was a “f*** real African and he lived in Africa, [then] he would have never used that f**** word,” adding on more expletives as he explained his perspective on the South African title holder.

“If he was raised as the poor people in Africa the way I was raised, the way I grew up, with how I go days without food. If we get the opportunity to leave that s******* – I’m sorry I’m trying to call my country a s******* but if I’m poor and I can go to America or a different country to make a better life for myself; I’d f***** cut off my leg to go.

“If he’s a true African, he would have understood that… That means he was living the comfortable life, his family had the money to feed him every day, so he didn’t have to worry about leaving [Africa] to go and make it [elsewhere].”

Dricus Du Plessis is set to defend his middleweight title against Israel Adesanya in the main event of UFC 305, which is scheduled to go down live from the RAC Arena in Perth in August.

“So, for him to say he’s the true African champion that lived there, he’s a f**** b**** for saying that – I respect what he’s done but he’s a b**** for that,” Alhassan continued.

When asked whether this type of pent-up emotion could be a detriment considering he’s set to fight himself in just a few days’ time, the middleweight hopeful teased that this is exactly the type of motivation he needs.

“This is not that type of anger, I’m f***** excited, I’m ready.”

Abdul Razak Alhassan also takes aim at Joaquin Buckley

Du Plessis wasn’t the only middleweight in Alhassan’s crosshairs this week either as he also took aim at Joaquin ‘New Mansa’ Buckley.

In fact, Alhassan showed up to his media day obligations in a custom T-shirt that said “Buckley is a b****” on the front – the UFC Denver fighter was forced to change before he faced the cameras.

“I know, that’s messed up – I had a ‘Buckley’s a b****’ shirt and they told me not to wear that – what’s wrong with that?!”

Their ongoing feud harks back to their fight back in 2022, which Buckley won via a razor-close split decision – so expect another ‘New Mansa’ social media rant if Alhassan loses this weekend.

“Still, if you’re watching, you’re still a b**** – I hate that m*********, well hate is a strong word; I dislike him… If I see him of course I’ll say hi, but I still don’t like his personality.”

Abdul Rozak Alhassan returns to action on July 13 at UFC Fight Night: Namajunas vs Cortez.
