UFC fan favorite Dustin Poirier has once again slammed Michael Chandler following a recent back-and-forth between the two online, commenting on Chandler’s decision to sit out and wait for Conor McGregor.
Since his UFC 303 fight against Conor McGregor was canceled, Michael Chandler has teased a multitude of different fights online, possibly in an attempt at getting in the head of ‘The Notorious’.
‘Iron’ teased that he was offered a lightweight title fight against Islam Makhachev, which didn’t sit well with Dustin Poirier who put his name in the hat for a rematch against the Russian champ.
Makhachev simply replied saying, ‘No thanks’, which amused Chandler who then put fuel on the fire by telling ‘The Diamond’ to retire.
Chandler’s last fight came against Poirier, who submitted him in round two at UFC 281 in 2022, with their rivalry continuing.

Dustin Poirier slams Michael Chandler following online exchanges
Although the Louisianan was flirting with retirement following his unsuccessful title challenge against Makhachev at UFC 302 earlier last month, he has admitted that he is still ‘on the fence’, but will likely take one more exciting fight.
“Who the f*** is we?” Poirier asked on The MMA Hour. “You just got here buddy, you’re not one of us, you’re not we. I’ve been here, come on dude, ‘We’re good’, who’s we? Welcome to the UFC dude, you’ve got one win in the UFC,” the 35-year-old stated.
Poirier admitted that Chandler’s comment annoyed him because he has only been with the promotion since 2021, and has only won twice.
“Yeah bro (that annoyed me), he’s not one of us, I’ve been cutting my teeth in the UFC since January of 2011 or 2010, you know, he just got here. He speaking for the lightweight division? Muscle Milk Mike needs to chill.
“Chandler thinks he’s a bigger draw than he is, I think. No (I wouldn’t fight him again), why? I beat him, he’s beating himself (now), he’s doing a good job of beating himself. He’s wasted two years,” Poirier continued.
The former interim lightweight champion also claimed that ‘Iron’ has ‘Dana White privilege’ and that the UFC will likely take care of him whether he fights the Irishman or not.
“I think he’s got Dana White privilege so he’ll be alright, they’ll take care of him. He’ll do whatever they say, it’s just the kind of guy he is, he’s just a company man,” the 35-year-old claimed.

Dustin Poirier doesn’t believe he is one of White’s favorites
After claiming that Chandler is a company man and that the promotion will take care of him no matter what, ‘The Diamond’ stated that he doesn’t think he is one of Dana White‘s top guys.
“No, I don’t think so. Just never had that (bond with him). And I’ve had to fight and push back for everything I’ve ever got with the UFC, it’s been a warzone, every behind the scenes, every contract, every fight,” Poirier shockingly admitted.
Before the Louisianan fought Max Holloway for the interim title back in 2019, he asked to be released from the promotion because of what they were offering him.
“I don’t remember exactly (why I wanted a release) but they were offering fights that I didn’t want, it was just (silly). I was asking to be released then. I ended up getting the Max fight so it worked out,” Poirier revealed.
Poirier is highlighting a possible fight against Nate Diaz for his next fight but is hesitant as he believes the UFC won’t do business with Diaz moving forward, so would ‘love’ to fight the Stockton brawler in boxing.
