‘While Conor sits on his yacht’… Michael Chandler poses new idea for next fight despite Conor McGregor’s return to training

Michael Chandler is a man full of ideas since his UFC 303 fight against Conor McGregor fell through, and he has posed another one despite the Irishman having returned to training.

Just last week, Michael Chandler was teasing online that he had been offered a lightweight title fight against Islam Makhachev instead of waiting around for Conor McGregor.

Despite that, the Russian champion didn’t seem too keen on the idea, as ‘Iron’ Mike continued to call for his fight against ‘The Notorious’ Irishman to be rebooked for UFC 306, at the Sphere, on September 14.

Michael Chandler poses a new idea for his next fight

The general consensus is that the 38-year-old has already sat out for several years in wait for his fight against the former two-weight world champion, and so he will continue to do so, no matter what.

Having said that, this past Saturday, former UFC star, Nate Diaz returned to the win column after picking up a decision win in the boxing ring against Jorge Masvidal.

Following the Stockton brawler’s win, Chandler posed a new idea for his next fight.

Replying to a fan comment on X who suggested that after McGregor and Chandler have fought, the UFC should bring Diaz back for the McGregor trilogy, Chandler said: “Sit down, Ron… better idea – me and Nate Diaz fight like real men, while Conor sits on a yacht and watches on PPV in his slippers. #ufcnoche #riyadhseason.”

However, the 38-year-old went on to reply to more comments, one of which suggested he and McGregor would fight at the Sphere. Chandler simply replied, ‘Loading’.

The former Bellator champion is seemingly trying to play mind games with the best mind game player, ever.

When asked what strategy he would implement against McGregor, the 38-year-old stated: “Instill fear… let him pull out of the fight and embarrass himself, be known as the guy who retired McGregor without ever throwing a punch…”

Conor McGregor has returned to training following toe injury

Of course, the 35-year-old’s UFC 303 withdrawal didn’t come entirely as a shock considering his antics in the lead-up to the fight, however, it was a broken little toe that rendered him unable to compete, not his extravagant lifestyle.

In a series of new images on his Instagram account, the Irishman has seemingly returned to sparring and heavy training.

He and his family were recently in Switzerland, where instead of partying with his family, ‘The Notorious’ fitted in a double training session, making the people aware he was back at it.

Ultimately, his return date is still unfortunately unclear as UFC CEO, Dana White, admitted recently that he likely won’t be back till near the end of the year, putting a stop to Chandler’s demands of a fight at the Sphere.
