This past weekend, Nate Diaz finally exacted revenge over Jorge Masvidal five years after their first meeting in the UFC Octagon, with a majority decision win in the boxing ring.
Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal first met in the UFC Octagon back in 2019, when they fought in the inaugural UFC BMF title fight. ‘Gamebred’ took the win after the doctor deemed Diaz unable to continue at the end of round three, due to a cut.
Their rivalry continued this past Saturday when they rematched, but this time in the boxing ring, in what was Masvidal’s professional boxing debut.

Michael Bisping heaps praise on Diaz and Masvidal for ‘instant classic’ boxing match
Diaz’s first boxing outing against Jake Paul last August didn’t give his fans much confidence heading into his second boxing fight after losing a unanimous decision against the Internet sensation turned-boxer.
Having said that, the 39-year-old clearly came into his rematch against Masvidal in far better shape, and fully focussed on the task at hand.
Former UFC middleweight champion and current UFC commentator, Michael Bisping, labeled the fight an ‘instant classic’, giving an abundance of praise to the Stockton brawler.
“It was phenomenal, for 10 rounds both of these men just went at it, it was an instant classic and I found myself having so much respect for both men,” Bisping said in a video on his YouTube channel.
Following his win, Diaz called out former opponents Leon Edwards and Jake Paul, to which ‘The Problem Child’ responded by calling him an ‘h**’.
Bisping has claimed that Paul is ‘lucky’ that Diaz came into their fight last year underestimating him, otherwise it could’ve been a different fight.
“Jake Paul was lucky because the Diaz that showed up against Jake Paul was not the Diaz that showed up (against) Jorge Masvidal. It just wasn’t the same guy… He definitely underestimated the Disney boy,” the UFC commentator continued.
Nate Diaz has several options following his blockbuster win
After returning to the win column for the first time since his win final UFC win against Tony Ferguson, Diaz has several options moving forward.
The 39-year-old continuously gets linked to a UFC return to finally settle his longtime feud with Conor McGregor. But despite their feud, ‘The Notorious’ sent his congratulations to Diaz this past weekend after he banked $1.6m from Diaz’s win.
Bisping has admitted that he is extremely confused as to why Diaz allegedly turned down a $15m offer to fight Jake Paul in the PFL.
“I was kind of blown away when Nate Diaz never took the $15m offer to fight Jake Paul in Mixed Martial Arts. Why wouldn’t he take that? That just seems bizarre to me. Maybe now he gets a shot,” the former champion stated.
That, though, is also unlikely as it would have to take place under the PFL banner which would likely scupper any potential return to the UFC to fight McGregor.
Former UFC welterweight title challenger, Darren Till, made his professional boxing debut this past Saturday too, controversially beating Moh Mutie in round two.
“Darren Till’s a dangerous man,” Bisping said when naming Diaz’s possible next fights. “Then you have Mike Perry out there. It’s kind of a fun little scene when you throw Tommy Fury, Jake Paul, Darren Till, Nate Diaz, Mike Perry, there’s a couple of other little k********,” Bisping finished.
