Was Dana White a fighter?
Despite being heavily involved with the UFC for nearly 25 years, White was never a professional fighter.
While he has had experience as an amateur boxer and trained with various fighters, his role in the UFC only extends to being the CEO of the promotion.
Now in his mid-50s, White is unlikely to make a career change and is too rich to need to step into the octagon at his age.

Dana White has an official Instagram account with 10.1 million followers. He tends to post backstage footage videos from UFC rather than any personal photos. You can follow him at danawhite.

There is no official reporting of White’s actual net worth.
UFC brought in $1.4 billion in revenue in 2024, and White will have had the king’s share of the money. However, when speaking to Bill Maher on the latest episode of Club Random, White said when asked if he was a billionaire: “No, no, not really.”
When did Dana White form the UFC?
A common misconception: Dana White did not form the UFC, nor did he have a helping hand in its original founding.
White joined the company alongside Station Casinos Executives Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta after their $2 million offer to purchase the promotion was accepted in 2001.
The first UFC event was held in 1993 in Denver, Colorado, eight years before White joined as company president. However, the promotion has grown incredibly since his involvement with the company and is now worth billions of dollars as part of the TKO group.
When did Dana White form Power Slap?
Power Slap was founded in 2022, with its first episode broadcast in January 2023.
Whilst low ratings resulted in TBS moving away from the Power Slap product at the end of season 1 of ‘Road to the Title’, the promotion moved exclusively to Rumble and continues to hold events across the US, drawing millions of views on social media from around the world.
Dana White and Joe Rogan
Dana White and Joe Rogan have shared a close relationship for many years. In 2001, Rogan declined White’s first offer to join the UFC as he “just wanted to go to fights and drink.”
After working for the desk on several events for free, Rogan officially joined the UFC in 2002, and the rest, as they say, is history.
White also revealed on the Lex Fridman Podcast that he threatened to resign from the UFC if the promotion parted ways with the commentator over comments he made on the JRE podcast.
“Anybody who is with me and has been with me knows, when you’re with me, you’re with me…” he said.
“It’s a two-way street. It’s not a one-way street. I’m not one of these guys that is gonna roll over… It’s a two-way street. Joe Rogan has been very loyal to me, and I am very loyal to Joe Rogan.”
Dana White’s house
For around a decade, White purchased several mansions in the Las Vegas neighborhood in Pine Island Court; reportedly costing $1.95 million, $1.8 million, $2.4 million, and $2 million, respectively.
In a tour of his latest property posted to the Men’s Health YouTube channel, White revealed that he wanted the house to feel like a resort with countless swimming pools, a spa, and a home gym.
Dana White fasting
In late 2023, White made headlines worldwide when he revealed that he’d just completed an 86-hour fast, telling his supporters, “I feel like a superhero, I feel incredible.”
Medical experts were quick to point out that while fasting has its benefits, studies suggest that prolonged fasting for five to 20 days only results in mild-to-moderate weight loss if not combined with diet and exercise.
Part of White’s impressive physical transformation in recent years was also due to a health scare in 2022, when he was diagnosed with extremely high triglyceride levels and given just over a decade left to live if he didn’t rectify his health issues.
Dana White’s Contender Series
Dana White’s Contender Series (previously known as Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series) is a separately licensed promotion of the UFC that aims to scout the next generation of mixed martial arts talent.
The first event from the inaugural season of DWCS took place in 2017, and several top-tier fighters, including Sean O’Malley, Jailton Almeida, Jack Della Maddalena, and Jamahal Hill, have come through the series.
Does Dana White own the UFC?
White no longer owns a majority share of the UFC, after selling his majority share in the company in 2016 to a consortium of investors led by WME-IMG (later renamed to Endeavor) for over $4 billion, while remaining a minority owner of the promotion.
He still works as CEO of UFC, while Endeavor completed the purchase of WWE in April 2023 to add to their portfolio.
Dana White’s boxing
White has moved into promoting boxing as he expands his personal empire into another combat sport.
White’s first foray into boxing promotion was promoting the Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez fight on September 13.
The bout broke records, achieving the third-largest gate in boxing history and attracting millions of viewers on Netflix.
It was a historic night, as Crawford beat Canelo to become the first three-time undisputed champion in boxing history.
