UFC commentator Daniel Cormier has warned fans to brace themselves for disappointment regarding Conor McGregor’s scheduled comeback at UFC 303.
Conor McGregor is scheduled to return to the Octagon for the first time in over three years, to take on Michael Chandler in a welterweight bout and the UFC was, of course, going all in on promoting the fight.
This past Monday morning, the UFC issued a statement announcing that their scheduled UFC 303 press conference in Dublin, Ireland, had been postponed until further notice.
At the time, the promotion didn’t give a reason for the postponement but later Monday evening, McGregor took to social media to apologize to fans, stating that it was canceled due to a ‘series of obstacles outside of our control’.
Chael Sonnen predicts cancelation is due to Conor McGregor focusing on his fight
Fans have continued to speculate about the postponement online, wondering whether it could be to do with an injury the Irishman has sustained in training.
The 35-year-old has also posted multiple videos over the past few weeks, of him enjoying himself in his bar in Ireland, leading to fans worrying about his preparation.

Former UFC middleweight title challenger, Chael Sonnen, is confident that the fight will still go ahead, and has predicted that the press cancelation was due to ‘The Notorious’ being so ‘zeroed in’ on training.
“From what I have now, I kind of don’t agree with the speculation,” Sonnen admitted on the recent episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy.
“Perhaps Conor McGregor for the first time ever is starting to focus. There’s one more clue, which is Conor didn’t just cancel the Ireland press conference, he canceled all media that’s already been agreed to leading up to this contest which makes me think, quite possibly our Irish star is starting to focus.” Sonnen added.
Daniel Cormier warns to ‘brace yourself for disappointment’ fearing fight may fall through
The former two-weight world champion also reportedly canceled his media obligations with UFC broadcast partners.
Responding to Sonnen’s optimism, UFC commentator Daniel Cormier has warned him and fans to brace for ‘disappointment’, as he fears the fight could end up falling through.
“Start to brace yourself a little bit for disappointment. Dana White will argue and scream at the media, Dana White will give the media a hard time, Dana White has no problem letting the media down, you know who Dana White doesn’t like letting down, the fans,” Cormier began.
“To me, it feels like this is a big deal. I have reached out to many in the organization to try and find out what happened, and when everyone is as tight-lipped as they are right now, to me that tells me it’s a little worrisome,” Cormier claimed.
Fortunately for Chandler, he was yet to make the trip over the pond and found out about the press conference cancelation just as he was about to leave for the airport.
Despite ‘The Bad Guy’ adopting the belief that McGregor will fight on June 29, he has claimed that if the Irishman doesn’t fight at UFC 303, he will never fight again and will retire from the sport.
“This announcement is a lot bigger than what ends up coming, I think the fight’s going to be fine and we’ll get an explanation for the canceled media if that’s wrong, I don’t think there’s a cancelation or postponement of a fight, I think that would be the announcement of the end of a career,” Sonnen claimed.
The outspoken UFC analyst went on to state that if McGregor does withdraw from the UFC 303 main event, then the UFC should make Max Holloway vs Michael Chandler for the ‘BMF’ title.
