The feud between Conor McGregor and Islam Makhachev’s team continues, with the Irishman making a damaging observation ahead of Makhachev’s UFC 302 main event this coming Saturday.
Islam Makhachev defends his lightweight title against Dustin Poirier in the UFC 302 main event from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, this coming Saturday.
The last time Makhachev stepped into the Octagon was in October last year when he knocked out Alexander Volkanovski in round one of their short-notice rematch.
Conor McGregor claims Islam Makhachev has staph infection going into UFC 302
Although Conor McGregor is unlikely to cut back down to lightweight at this stage in his career with his comeback fight against Michael Chandler scheduled for 170lbs, the Irishman is continuing with his hatred towards Islam Makhachev and his team.
With the UFC 302 pre-fight images being released ahead of the huge fight on Saturday, ‘The Notorious’ McGregor made a damaging observation regarding Makhachev’s pre-fight photo.

In a now-deleted X rant, the 35-year-old highlighted a mark on the left leg of Makhachev, claiming that it was indicative of staph infection.
“Staph again. This inbred however lives with Staph. This team is infested, make no mistake. Scruff balls. Whatever ya’s are into, I suppose. He still subs Dustin in the 1st.” McGregor claimed.
Images then began to circulate of Makhachev during his training camp, wearing a black protective sleeve on the same leg, which has resulted in fans agreeing with McGregor’s claims.
“You absolute scruffy f****, I’m sick of you’s.” McGregor added to his rant. “Wash your f****** self! Wash your clothes! Wash your mats! And do it f****** everyday you scruffy c****.”

If Makhachev is dealing with a staph infection, it will be Poirier’s second fight in a row competing against someone who is carrying the infection into the fight. Benoit Saint-Denis revealed after their UFC 299 fight that it massively affected him going into their fight.
Dustin Poirier still unsure whether UFC 302 will be his last fight
Ahead of another huge fight in the career of Dustin Poirier, ‘The Diamond’ recently suggested that it could be his final fight if things don’t go his way.
The 35-year-old admitted that if he does win the title, he will of course continue to defend the belt for legacy sake, but he has questioned the purpose of continuing if things don’t go his way.
“We’ll see. I have no clue (what I’ll do after this fight), I can’t do this forever. What am I fighting for, obviously defending the belt (if I win) and continuing the legacy but if it doesn’t go my way what am I fighting for?
“Am I going to get another title shot or am I just going to fight for money, to stay busy, what’s the reason I’m fighting for, that’s what I’ll have to sit down and address myself, we’ll see.” Poirier told ESPN.
