Conor McGregor’s head coach left frustrated despite homecoming event in Dublin selling out in minutes

Conor McGregor’s UFC homecoming event in Dublin, Ireland, sold out within minutes of tickets going on sale, and it has even left his head coach John Kavanagh frustrated.

Earlier last week UFC CEO, Dana White, announced that in the lead-up to Conor McGregor‘s comeback fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303, on June 29th, the promotion would hold a press conference in Dublin.

The promotion did something similar for McGregor’s 2015 fight against Jose Aldo, as they did a world tour of press conferences, visiting both Dublin and Rio de Janeiro to further hype the fight.

Although White has previously hinted that another Fight Night event could take place in Dublin, the Irish fans have had to settle with a monumental press conference instead.

UFC 303 press conference in Dublin sells out within minutes

The highly anticipated press conference takes place on Monday, June 3rd, from the 3Arena, and it will be the first time ‘The Notorious’ has returned to his home country with the UFC since 2015.

Despite the tickets being free, fans who wished to attend the event had to purchase tickets on Ticketmaster because of the demand. Fans were limited to two tickets per account to try and eliminate people buying them for resale purposes.

With that, the allocated tickets sold out within minutes of going on sale, and it has left several fans frustrated after they couldn’t secure a spot.

The fan frustration also stems from the fact that not all sections of the 3Arena have been opened up for the monumental press conference.

Conor McGregor’s head coach, John Kavanagh, even made his frustration known, ordering that the UFC open up all sections of the arena to allow for more fans to be able to experience the event.

“Need to open up the rest of the arena @UFC” Kavanagh posted on X.

Seemingly, a portion of the lower tier and the floor area have not been opened, possibly facilitating what will be a huge turnout of both local and international media.

Conor McGregor responds to recent fight preparation criticism

The former two-weight world champion came under the firing line this past weekend, as a video surfaced of him partying in his Dublin pub, The Black Forge Inn, till the early hours of the morning.

When his comeback fight was announced, ‘The Notorious’ revealed that he would be giving up alcohol for the entirety of his fight camp, but seemed to fall back into old habits.

This resulted in several former fighters and analysts criticizing the Irishman, questioning how seriously he is taking his comeback fight against ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler.

Despite that, the 35-year-old issued a short but poignant response to the criticism, saying, “Some are just built different. I am only now coming into my own. June 29th, records, and jaws are getting smashed! Onwards and upwards!”
